  3. I worked as subbie for this bloke yesterday ( first time ) Turned up and there was a 40ft beech tree to be removedand a large scotspine to be deadwooded...that he wanted me to do...no Problem i thought! completed scotspine then was going to knock out beech ..but he didn't point out to me there was severe splitting and root damage..NOT climable! I called him and explained to him the problem . There is a 50/50 chance that it might snap in half when i am taking large branch of the rear of tree and explained that i am not going to take risk ..better to step back and re-think the removal..i even suggested taking weight of back and just felling tree ( plenty of space ). his reply was........ THATS MEANS I WILL HAVE TO GO GET LONGER CABLE! I also pointed out that it had a fungi and asked if he could name it..his reply to that was who the F*$k cares! Wrong answer!..it is Ustulina deusta..and pretty severe at that..the stems were splitting apart..and already had a 1/3 of crown broken off! and the stem about 15ft up was less than half with big heavy crown. Then he told me the funniest thing i have been told in tree work 'Just shut of your brain and monkey up the tree' Unbelievable! pics below
