  1. thats is awesome! nature surviving
  2. Yeah i agree with what you are saying ..we all have to start from somewhere. But there are no shortcuts..just work hard and put your time in and you will become god climber. But I see guys just wanting to take shortcuts all the time to earn high wage asap. But don't realise how difficult it can be spending a whole day up a 80 ft beach. as they have never done it.
  3. yeah ross id awesome also. but he is based oos all rond fitness. beastskills is maximum stength. 1 arm pullups are world standard for strength.
  4. http://www.beastskills.com oh yeah baby!
  5. whats this supposed to mean? i worked my ass off for pennies. worked hard and became ...a decent climber. Why would i pay someone same wage that i charge when i am twice the climber??
  6. for sure you should be allowed to. but WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU!! climbing trees all week at work..you think i do it as a hobbie too! No chance
  7. fell running is awesome..great workout for legs. just got back from poland ..climbing the mountains out there..going back next year to run them. what does OMM STAND FOR ?

    cheers :)

  9. I got £30 a day to start with. and back then i was prob better worker than the guys that i pay 70 a day to now. I think 50 a day fro someone new is fair. unless they are self employed ..then 70 a day is good. if anyone ever complains to me about how much they get paid..the they can go else where. good luck to them!
  10. yo! my english ain't too gud! can you explain better.
  11. I got steins boots about 1 month ago.. the first couple days i worker in what was more or less a swamp and they stayed dry. Then i got my foot slightly run over by van ..and foot was ok . Then i wore to climb 3000ft up the polish mountains 3 days ago...snow and tough climbing..after 5 hrs my feet were still ok and boots comfotable. awesome!!
  12. I could come ut for maybe month or two? if you pay or flight/ accomodation / and buy me one of those funny american bucket helmets. ( yow know the ones that that axe men wear ) i will come out.
  13. Even if could i am In Scotland man. Glasgow. where abouts in Canada did you work? How much are you after a day anyhow?
  14. Ha,ha,ha. I know Tim it is about time i got around to it ..should have done it first before going into treework. Give me till next Summer and i will have it done and dusted. Wouldn't say i am Great Climber. I would say i have lots to learn.
  15. what about somone that holds loads of tickets . rfs tickets ect....buth has never really climbed. i understand we all have to start from somewhere..but experience is more important than tickets.
  16. very true..but to expect a high wage is nuts. I would rather have a groundsman with no tickets..but a good head on his shoulders rather than arborgeek
  17. I just have my basic cs felling and climbing, rescue etc
  18. yeah usually..but they have this head in the clouds idea...that because they are qualified the climb..which means they are a tree surgeon..they should get high rates!..if someone can't climb decent for me then i do not want them climbing at all..i will do it myself..and pay them a learning groudsman rate.
  19. I get loads of calls from guys looking for work....telling me that they have cs this and cs that...and qualified in this and that..annoys the hell out of me...there seems to be a new generation of super geek climbers!...that have a this dry knowledge ..but when it comes to thinning a big tree out and doing a scary removal in the pissing rain ..the just crack..and are broken easy! I understand that Arboroculture is advancing in new technology and climbing methods etc are making things safer and and jobs more efficent...but You still need to have a thick skin..and be at least a little bit tough! Just had to many guys call me up telling me they have done this and done that...then shaking like aleaf when the get 10 ft of the ground...PATHETIC!
  20. you can claim lunch! i think itis 2.50 a day you are allowed.also iclaim for my protienpowders and carb drinks. and my 2000 qiud gym i have.
  21. I was goinjg to price it like this. groundie -£250 £33 an hr had to drive about 60 miles so i put on £30 for fuel. And £700 for myself. Over £100 AN HR. I do not want to rip them off...but dangerous job at 10pm pitch black on a saturday night...already knacked from climbing for 9 hrs..i want a decent payout.
  22. I got called out this saturdy night at 9pm. it was a job for the NHS . A dinosaur of a sycamore has fallen over right across the main entrance to the hospital. Meaning know one could get in or out. I called one of the guys and headed out to do it. We arrived there and the area where it has fallen was not lit well. meaning we had to use our LED lights. Also the tree was under severe tension as it was across a large ditch also. ( very dangerous job ) I paid my groudie 3 times normal rate for unsociable Hrs. the job took 6 hrs and we were home by 3.30am. pricing it i am taking into consideration that is was a very dangerous job with no light.. Any estimates??
  23. whats the rate of pay? can you pm me details. Kind Regards, Martyn
  24. when taking a 15ft top out a tree..i was making the backcut when i reaslised i was still tied in at the top. I had felled myself about 15ft foot out a tree onto a stone wall. noticed what i had done just after making the back cut and ground guy started pulling on the rope...which was just enouhg time to slam the chainbrake on and brace for impact. ..OUCH! ( WAS MY FIRST YEAR OF CLIMBING ) aged 18. only had scratch on chin though..very lucky!
  25. luckily for myself my girlfriend is studying to be an Acountant. You can claim 100 mobile phone bill. if you got it for a business contract. also home phone and internet can be claimed for. Dam..you can claim around £2 a day for lunch. ..around £10 a week..which is £40month = £480 a year estimate. it all adds up..keep all your receipts.
