  1. good. bit of advice though..when you close number 2 beware of holding pint glasses and bottles..you will develop grip like kingkong and things get fragile!
  2. my strength feats so far . Can hold 20kilo plate in each arm sideways at arms length for 10 secs. Managed to dip my bodyweight + 120lbs. 1 arm overgrip chin. dragon flags. 1 arm shoulder press with 20k barbell with 2 x 15 kilo plates on ( 50k ) for reps. 1 arm finger pushups. pistols ( 1 leg squats ) with 25 k plate. close captain crush gripper number 2 ( 165lbs ) of pressure. getting strong is easy ig you know how and you don't overtrain your CNS ( CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM ) Doing high reps gives you endurance ( which you need ) doing the usuall 8 - 12 reps just bulks you up! I do 1 to 5 reps max for 5 sets with 3 To 5 mins rest between sets and 3 to 5days off between sessions. works real well
  3. been working up to heviest chin i can possibly do for 3yrs now. 1 day a week i do my chinup training ( muscles need 5 to 6 days to repair from low rep training ) theres a big difference between looking strong and being strong. and i can tell you it does help climbing. read bodyweight exercises for extraordinary strength by brad johnson. \f\ind it on http://www.ironmind.com
  4. load of twiddle! tell me what gym has equipment that is good for getting strong? its all look good equipment. i should know! 10k of chinning world record! ( world heaviest chinup ) yeah ..sure intimidated by gyms!
  5. cambium saver. chainsaw and silky. Nottin else! funny when you see pics of some blokes tree motion with hundreds of strops/ slings/ etc...yeah sure!
  6. bowline on a bight is good for attached rope to vechile to pull over trees etc. ( easy to untie ) Bowline, running bowline, clove hitch, timber hitch. are the common ones that are used. But nowadays with all the slings that are faster..bowlines etc are not used as much.
  7. yeah..very true. like relax when you climb or you will be knackered within couple hrs. climbers who start out seem to be nervous and not relaxed thus they get tired easily. But doing strength training puts energy into your muscles and will only help you stay good at climbing. climbing everday is a form of over training...thats why you find a lot of skinny weak climbers. So you need to counteract all those high reps..by doing maximum strength ( 3 to 5 reps ) so you have strength and also endurance. :laugh1:
  8. nah. i do weighted dips on them also. actually they contributed to My M.r Max dips. worked up to 60kilo dips for reps with bodyweight of 80kilo. Trust me if its strength you are after these are the way to go. Welcome to Ring Training
  9. Gyms are for harry Hoofters! Buy portable gymnastic rings from ringtraining.com. You can hang them from chinup bars. trees whatever you can sling them over. exercises - chins, dips, pushups, ab exercises. and lots more. Warning: side affects may be turning into a beast, body will feal light, and you climbing in tree work wll improve ten fold. I have trained for years in stength and fitness...and i know guys that can do 50 dips/ that can't knock of 2 dips on the rings.
