  1. The only fan from the toon who is excited about going to see the Stadium of Light when they are not even playing the geordies. Next you will be telling me you can't wait for the tickets to go on sale for... 'Europe - the final countdown tour 2, (Sub-headed) This time we are starting at 11 !!!' with Supporting act, that ginger dick from Guns and Roses who cannot get Slash to perform again. Exclusively 23 nights only at the Riverside Stadium, Middlesbrough.
  2. You must be or know extremely expensive freelance staff. A lot of companies don't reach the VAT threshold never mind climbers.
  3. It is doable mate. I freelance climb for quite a few different companies in the area. I am busy 5-6 days a week. I have no interest in setting up with a truck and chipper. Freelance climbing is just a case of finding someone or multiple someones who require the skillset you have. It could be due to the timeframe I have been freelancing, but doing a good job and being able to fit in with different crews is a major part of it. It could also be the reason why I have been so busy in recent years. I currently have 3-4 days left to fill in January. So as a freelancer running at just under 2 months booking's is not too bad. Good luck and be honest about your skills.
  4. Nice vid mate, but why do you and some other people feel the need to switch your hands arse about tit on the 020?
  5. If there is a ladder available I will use it to access the tree. In the same way if I am knocking over a wall I would use a sledge hammer if it was available rather than the toffee hammer I carry for my sweet tooth.
  6. Nice one Ross. Well done wifie. A long time in the suite mate, especially for your second. Mind you 88.8 lbs is a bit of a lump. Awesome news.
  7. Excellent work mate. Chunky butt on it!
  8. I have a mate whose dad wanted to call him City, after his beloved team. He was born the day Stoke won the Football League cup in 1972. Even tho he was officially named Paul, he still goes by the moniker of 'City' .
  9. I had a willow go on me during a repollard job. About 14 inches dia split out and pulled me of my perch. No damage until I cut the hanger free and to support my self and to try and get back above limb I grabbed the only bit I could reach. This was the split stub and as the weight released it closed up on my fingers. No damage but did give me a good solid hand hold.
  10. RIP. Sounds like another good man taken before his time.
  11. Mike, not much help with the valuation query as I have no experience of it. As Peter said, I would have thought you were the main asset to the tree work side. I think I recall you saying once that you teamed up with him for the established name in the area. How much would this effect the business if you were not associated with that name anymore. Personally I would have thought the Tredocteren name (sp?) would have it's own name in the Market now. How much does he think he is worth could be the question. Or rather how little once the profits and assets have been divided up.
  12. That does look very nice mate. Are you gonna post piccies once the laquer is on?
  13. Dont have a spider jack matty. I think jp had one in the beech pics. I am still on the vt hitchclimber combo.
  14. Because that wouldn't be video worthy. A bit of controversy gets viewers, the more viewers, the more pennies (from youtube).!
  15. As Mark is showing his Pops, here are a few pics of 3 poplars we dismantled with the assist of a Crane. 30t on the first day but didn't manage to get them finished so the tops were taken out to allow a smaller 20t City crane to return to site the next day. Pictures are the start of day 2. Climbing done by 1pm. A large amount of timber to be shifted on Thursday. Plus a small clip of one of the lifts. 16. Good job JP. A bit of firewood there for someone...
  17. Good job Tom and Andrew.
  18. Not a new one but a recent review... Nissan NP300 2.5 dCi 2008 Van Review | Van Trader UK
  19. As Stu said, two very different harnesses. Horses for courses and all that! Although the Weaver looks like it should be worn by a Shire horse. Personally, I wouldn't get the weaver as they are terribly uncomfortable for me. If you are a big lad (a few of my mates are) they climb in the Kolibri /Skylotec harness.
  20. Give Jonathan Varten a ring Rhys. Link was provided earlier. His machine is a beast, not sure of the hp though. He is very efficient and a top bloke. Rich.
  21. Different parts of the country command different prices to win the work. You should know of the market you service and then price accordingly. But in answer to your question - as close to 300 hundred quid per man per day in London.
  22. I think you will find the reason so many people have the 'ump is the attitude that you actually think what you have written is true. That being said I love jumping trees, but I don't have a skid steer to hand so I take smaller bits and use my own version of a skid steer - my left or right arm. I like to call them Ronnie and Reggie.
  23. Nice and smooth there!
  24. maybe it is your hitch mate and not the climb line?
  25. Nice work Tom and Andrew. I tried the saw on a ropegrab today. Can't say I was that impressed. Maybe a shorter rope would have helped but felt too big and clumsy with the 441.
