  1. Maybe his dream is a deposit for a new house. In order to do that he is earning high and spending low. Just a thought.
  2. The cold winters are not that bad mate. Worked last winter in Oslo. Just gotta get through the weeks and then enjoy the weekends boarding or skiing.
  3. How long are you staying out there for James?
  4. Cougar Blue?
  5. I have told a couple of people in the past that we are clearing for a new Mcdonalds drive through.
  6. I have had melodramatic characters onsite lots of times. It seemed at least on e a week we would get a run in with someone. At that time most of the work we did was removals for insurance purposes and often the trees were owned by neighbour of our clients who were having problems with subsidence. I have had people threatening me or the crew, bad language etc. In the past I have told them my 2 year old has a better vocabulary then them and that I am not interested in listening with their potty mouth running off! That usually gets them going proper. Take the moral high ground everytime. A slagging match is probably not going to resolve anything. Another time I had a camp fella going mental at me for chopping the tree in the boundary down. It was his partners property and was affected by the tree, as was his boyfriends neighbours property. He wouldn't listen to reason and was so miffed as he had planted a load of bulbs in the border the previous weekend. He threatened to call the police and then started fumbling about in his pockets - so ever the gent, I offered to lend him my phone and even mentioned the number was 999 if he couldn't remember it!
  7. The fundamentals of general tree work and the working climber series of DVDs by Gerry Beranek are both excellent guides to more practical tree work. Lots of learning in there.
  8. Sample pack on the way.
  9. A very nice gesture from your customer. Excellent.
  10. I am a big fan of mixed fruits and nut. Usually buy a big grab bag when I am in Norway and snack. Not really been following the Paleo thing but have tried a few of the recipes some of you have posted. Especially like the yoghurt chilli and lime baked cauliflower. I have tried to cut down on bread though and usually have chicken or mackerel and salad for lunch and a couple of eggs and chilli sauce. Don't think I could ever stop eating rice though. It is ingrained in me.
  11. My friend sold parts of Virgin the network that they provide the services to you lot. Guess what? The product he sold still hasnt been completely rolled out to Virgin yet. But they keep on selling!
  12. I have used Southern, very good. Also Savage Cranes are based in Maidstone IIRC. Have used them on a few occasions.
  13. It is because they run on a contention ration. Basically that means you will have a maximum connection speed that is available at quiet periods. At busy timeframes then every man and his dog wants connections the same bandwidth is used. for example for every 1Gbps of capacity they have on their network they might sell 10Gbps to customers. That would be a 10:1 contention ratio. BUT if all 10 customers are on at the same time they would get 100Mbps. Basically, it sounds like Virgin have been selling their connection without the backbone capacity to handle all the data traffic at busy times.
  14. Give arbor risk or tree surgeon insurance a ring. They advertise within the banners.

    New shoes

MOG, Nod may have some of the AKU Crestas left. I had had mine nearly 2 years. Tuff as old boots.
  16. 10mm on mine and she screams
  17. Great work David on all three videos. You get some interesting work.
  18. This guy can pull a wheelie or two. Good going on the mower though. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHdIECkvWt8]STUNTER 13 - 1st PLACE PLUS STUNT GRAND PRIX 2013 - YouTube[/ame]
  19. I have busted about 3 of the small ones. Never a large one apart from loosing a gate. I have take mine off tho. Found some snap gate steel boating krabs at a sailing store. The are great and sit snug to the saddle when not in use. Slightly less profile than the carry too and rarely gets snagged. Unlike the carry tool IMO.
  20. Nice edit mate and good tree work. A bit of everything in there. Good job!
  21. Still not working on an iPhone for me mate. I can try on my Mac after work.
  22. As for the measurements I spliced it up one night as we were having a few beers at the Norfolk cutters and climbers. It worked in prrinciple so I just fine tuned and neatn'd the whole thing up when I got home.
  23. I just had a length of elastic tied with two fishermans. I run it through or between the bridge on the tree motion and clip it to a Lyon selling and bina I use as a chest harness. There wasn't enough recoil so I doubled it and it works fine. You just have to be careful not to have your legs close to the line as sometimes the croll catches in your pants. Not dangerous but just puts you outta rhythm.
  24. Yes I did mate. Knocked one up with bits I had. Petzl croll, accessory bina, some accessory elastic from a tree motion and some tenex. Took about 20 mins. The elastic doesn't go I to the footloop though and it is soft rather than stiff, but it all bundles up and can fit in the cargo pocket of my stretch airs.
  25. The HAAS style ascent can be pretty efficient. Personally when you have it dialled in I prefer to take larger steps and maximise the strides. [ame] [/ame]
