  1. Quite right too!!!! A truck driver wiped out an entire family of six a few weeks ago! Please inform me of the number of fatality's of OTHERS that tree surgeons have been responsible for? I would really like to read a haulers Risk Assessment ! Driving is their "work" so they must have to do one, how do they mitigate the risks of taking a 44 toner on the road with cars, bikes and pedestrians!!! Why don't they have to have a second driver? who could watch the first driver to see he is awake! and paying proper attention! and obeying driving regs! Planes have to have a co-pilot, we a supposed to have a second climber, so why not truckers? I'll tell you why!! Because they are a large industry with money so they have power and pay for lobbying!! WE are a tiny industry with no clowt!, so we just get pushed around!! (you can't beat a good rant on a Sunday morning)
  2. I buy my saws locally, from a guy I've know for 30 years, and been buying saws off for 18 years. Buy all my other gear of jonesie, he seems to offer APF prices all year round!! Just got some aluminum Gecko spikes of him, they are great!!
  3. Thats one of my contingency plans, if the big slump hits in the new year! Not sure how many bags I'd get from my log pile? one or two though I think.

Are you for real!!???? Which would you put on your chips??
  5. Maybe they could be!, if they came via you bob:sneaky2:
  6. I have bought loads of stuff of ebay and have always had great quality! If the wood is crap/wet they will soon get poor feed back!,simple:001_smile:
  7. Sounds to me like you already have some

Spiders like salt! Have you ever tried eating a fly without salt? YUCK!!

I totally agree! But I would be happier to use salt than some "legal" products, the powers that be are by no means aways right! When using salt I always cover the stump with black polythene any way, so birds should not have a problem.
  10. I keep hearing about these £100 cubes! But I've never actually meet any one who's bought or sold one Thing is why wouldn't they just buy of ebay? you can get one delivered for far less??

I would HOPE that ALL who post on here a would WANT to have their posts "debated"! Is that not the whole point ?? And to suggest that anyone is going to find them selfs prosecuted for the use of salt is quite frankly a joke!, only my opinion.

According to "current" thinking! They used to think smoking was "good for you"!!
  13. But has he sold it? It may sound hash to offer such a low price, but you have to keep in mind that if you buy something you have to be in a position to sell it if you need to, and as the market is still falling you have try and pay low enough to still be able to get most of your money back in the near further if needs be. I know that this does in fact drive down the market, but what else can you do?
  14. That is so TRUE!! But I would begin any negotiations at half the asking price, we are entering a buyers market the likes of which none of us have ever seen, IMO.
  15. At £60 a bag to the main land, I think your idea of a healthy mark up is some what different to mine.
  16. Misdiagnoses or not when they start shedding big limbs I recommend felling.
  17. Don't knock that! Thats how I learnt, I got the idiots guide with my first saw, S/H 266, was very helpful !
  18. Tut,tut, do you not know that you have to keep all tax related documents for 6 years !
  19. :confused1:How do you offset your saws against your tax ?, if you don't keep your receipts, Dean?
  20. Ed, could you not just build a conveyor that was two conveyors in one, a very open mesh conveyor ridding say 6 inches over a rubber mat conveyor so that the small stuff falls through the mesh onto the rubber mat. I the mesh conveyor is longer you could have your pickup back spit into two compartments, the bigger lumps going into one compartment and the small bits into another.
  21. This year I've had other tree firms asking to buy timber of me!, there seems to be a real shortage over here at the moment.
  22. When I get the "you can sell the wood" speech, I just say " you pay me to do the job, I'll leave you the wood then you can sell it and get your money back!"
  23. My Co as been LTD since 2000, I have borrowed on several occasions up to £30K and have never been asked for a personal guarantee. All my borrowing as been for machinery so I do asset finance, I would not borrow for working capital and do not want an overdraft.
