  1. I think a reputation for being expensive can be a good thing, so long as you're also known for being good. IMO.
  2. Ash also contains less acid, so metal fixing will last long. This is why its favoured over other timber such as Oak, for Mogan car chassis.
  3. Having one last go, before it's all over, they're probably gutted.
  4. Not sure that's an invention, much of nature have songs, whales, birds etc.
  5. Where do we draw the line? What point in history do we go back to? What if the artefacts we took were built using materials mined by slaves? What if the people were sacrificing people to their gods? What about Israel, what gave us the right to take that land of the people who had lived there for generations and give it to those who claimed their ancestors lived there first, but had not lived there for generations? People talk like this is all very simple it's "white SUCCESSFUL" people bad, brown or black people good. Who sold the slaves? I don't know the answers, but do know its very complex and possible there is no fair way to sort it out.
  6. Both really. My wife now gives me decent soft drinks. Which are ok, but don't taste anything like as good a nice Red or some real Ale. I've tried the none alcohol stuff, but IMO it tastes awful and is bloody expensive. I generally started drinking with me evening meal. My wife is an excellent cook and we always have quality home made food. In the past I would say "I'm gonna quit drinking through the week, everyone says heavy drinking is bad for you". But then my wife would present me with a lovely steak, Spaghetti Bolognese, roast chicken dinner, and I would immediately say "oh this needs a nice red" or "a good Ale" And once I start I tended to keep going. I've always been a guzzler, I've never met any one who drinks pints as fast as me, my mates always joke about it. But the heartburn was really annoying me and I wanted to shed some weight, so I decide to try quitting drinking every day but Fridays. Now I drink gallons of Tea. I can't have been addicted, as once I had good valid reasons to quit, I just stopped and have absolutely zero cravings etc. My wife, who is a very modest drinker, at first said she would quit through the week too, but she sometimes says "oh I really fancy a glass of Red" and will get one. I pull her leg and say she has no will power. But I have no interest in joining her. As for the mood swings, that's never been a problem. I'm no angel, but drink makes no difference.
  7. While I respect your post, I'm not sure that's true for every one. I became a heavy drinker slowly over time. I got so I was doing at least a bottle of wine each night and some time two bottles. If I didn't drink wine, I've 3 to 6 bottles of beer. I stopped getting hangovers years ago and would sleep like a log. I started getting heartburn about a year ago. Quit coffee etc, but could get shut of the heartburn. I tried medication, but it didn't really agree with me. I went for the Endoscopy down my throat (it's very unpleasant). All is normal, other than a small hiatus hernia, which apparently are very common if you have spent much time lifting things are really a bit to heavy to lift. I the end I decided to knock the drinking on the head, I wanted to lose some weight anyway, so thought why not. I just stopped. I will still drink on Friday nights, but not any other times. Since giving up the drink, the Heartburn has gone. But other than this resent problem and maybe falling asleep in the chair of an evening (although I still do now, after a hard day) I can honestly say alcohol never caused me any mental health issues.
  8. Where in his post did you get the idea he had bought from the cheapest guy around?
  9. Yes, possibly, I've seen them survive worse. Fortunately as it's an Oak it will be dead long before it becomes dangerous. I would leave until well into Spring and see if it leafs up. Even if it does leaf up this year it could still die in coming years.
  10. Very nicely done, but in two years that tree will be bigger and block more light than it did before the job. I'm not a fan of tickling sycamores, the react with excess growth, IME. I'd sooner leave them be or hit 'em hard.
  11. Yes, but strangely it seems to malfunction just when it's most needed....... Epstein....
  12. Not watched it myself and don't intend to, but apparently its actually only just over an hour, the rest is advertising and padding out with repeating parts "coming up" and "previously".
  13. I think he pretty much nailed it!! Well said that man!!
  14. Yes and the TPO transfers to the new tree.
  15. Valuable contribution, on what evidence do you make that claim?
  16. Fair enough. But that’s not what your earlier post said.
  17. Yep its a crazy old world, some time last year, some guys were riding on bikes from Lands End to John O'groats, raising money for charity. One of their planed food stops was a Mac'ds. They arrived in the middle of the night, in much need of sustenance. But the restaurant was closed, drive through only, but they could not use the drive through, as they were not in a car. They were sent away hungry.
