  1. So what about people who have never worked who live on benefits?? They have never paid a penny into the system but are still able to claim.
  2. Shredders require far more energy than a chipper to process the same amount of material, but will deal better than a chipper with contaminated material. For clean material a chipper is by far the best option, IMO.

  8. Nice one Stevie!! Did you get to Betty's????
  9. I was really impressed by the set up, they really are "built in Britain". And its a real "family firm". Was really good of Pete to take the time, many thanks
  10. How is it the governments fault?? I guess they could scrap the minimum wage and ban unions, creating a lower wage economy that could better compete with less developed countries.
  11. We are leaving in the next half-hour
  12. I believe the forecast for the next few days is pretty good.

Most take cards, but cash can sometimes get a little discount.
  14. How do you know it was arthritis? surely it was just sore and got better.
  15. Split and stacked in the spring fire wood should be fine by autumn.
  16. We will never be regulated!!!! It will not happen!!! People can bleat on about it till the cows come home, but its not going to happen. Remember that street that was blown up, killing a baby and injuring others, thats what happens when gas goes wrong, hardly comparable with a poorly pruned tree. Mechanics are not regulated, they can rebuild the brakes on a car or truck that vehicle then disappears down the road, if that goes wrong dozens could be killed. The main person we put at risk from poor practice is ourselves, there are any number of other activities that put other people at risk that would need regulating before ours came anywhere near the radar of the powers that be, IMO.
  17. Employers pay what they need to get the staff they need, there is no shortage of people wanting to work in this industry for the rates currently available, so why pay more?? There was a shortage of tube drivers, so wages went up until they got enough drivers to fill the posts. The firefighters jumped on this and wanted to be paid the same as tube drivers, as the felt they deserved the same rate, but for every firefighters position advertised there were 80 applicants, so why pay more??? We have a "free market economy" if your not happy with the pay find another job, if enough people refuse to work for the current rates, there will not be enough people to fill the posts and rates will rise to attract the required staff. I find it very amusing that if aways none climbers who feel its not skilled:sneaky2:
  18. I'm sorry but much of this is simply incorrect, "virgin" wood chip is not waste, chipped pallets etc are waste. Logs are certainly not waste. Conifer chip is not poisonous, but they will increase the acidity of the soil, so plants that like an alkali soil will struggle.
  19. That stinks Stevie, some people are just scum:thumbdown:
  20. Could these two facts not be related???
