  1. I recon husky just can't build a decent top handle, so they are pushing the EU to ban them:sneaky2:
  2. Really enjoyed that!! Thanks for taking the time Reg
  3. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OqwKfgLaeA]Cat's In The Cradle - YouTube[/ame]
  4. Mark talks a great deal of sense
  5. You have clearly never burnt dead Elm, that's been killed by DED, the is no hotter burning timber, IMO It is hard to process, but once cut and split, it is the finest of all fire woods.
  6. Some councils want you to use the PTO application form to notify for CA works, they can't make you use the form (they often say they can) but its sometimes less hassle just using the form BUT, you only need to fill in the parts of the form that are relevant for a CA notification, IE the address, description and a plan if the location of the trees is not obvious. Don't let them start getting you to include a report on the trees condition etc.
  7. You don't "apply", you "notify" and you can not "do what you like anyway", you can do what you notified you were going to do. They can't "refuse the work", they can only TPO, then you would need to "apply" for an works.
  8. Have you read the whole thread???????
  9. The TO may like you to consult them, giving them powers and control they don't actually have. But there really is no need, simply ring or email the planing department asking what restrictions, if any, there are at the address, if its in a CA, just notify and wait 6 weeks. Its worth considering your client, if you don't follow procedures correctly and allow the planning department to prevent or control works after the 6 week period has passed, you really are letting your client down and possibly adversely affecting the outcome for them, when there really is no need.
  10. :banghead: Its NOT an "Application"! Its a "Notification"!
  11. NO, you can only carry out the works you have notified them about, if you notify that you are crown lifting, but then fell, you could be in real trouble. As for the OP, if you notified to fell 6 weeks ago and they have not TPO'd, just get on with the job, they cannot stop you in any way other than TPO.
  12. Using a pulling rope, wedges or any other felling aid.
  13. The only people who make no mistakes, are those who make nothing.
  14. I just use a very small radio and small earphones/earbuds, under my normal ear muffs. I've been doing this for over 20 years.
  15. If this is true, why are those towing trailers without test not prosecuted for no insurance?
  16. Is it not an abbreviation of "possible targets"??
  17. Depends on the age of your machine, the early ones had straight fins, if these are changed for the later curved ones there is improved draft.
  18. The OP was asking about a TW 150, so my answer was in regard to that.
  19. IME, with TW's its stuff that "falls" short of the truck, not over spray.
  20. Do you have a backpack blower?? IME the hassle of trying to extend the chute and blockages, is not worth it, you need to blow around the loading end of the chipper anyway, so its only a 2 minuet job to pull the truck and chipper forward and quickly blow the area clean
