It was just a thought but if you've pulled the cable off the drum before attaching and pulling onto the winch then you must have taken the twist out of the cable so that it falls evenly onto the winch drum. In short an erroneous question from an old fool. C'est moi.

Not a sign. A few straying pheasants pushed home. It is nice to see woodcock when they get up in these places, a good uninterrupted view of their flight.

I was working in Dover when the news was being reported by Chris Moyle. I decamped to the Thirst and Last(previously the Prince Albert)at Eastcliffe. A mariners pub it was at the very least raucous. Not today, rammed and silent as we watched it unfold with live footage and reporting. All you could hear was a low buzz of conversation, quiet clinking of glasses and blowing of noses. I've got DSOTM on cassette, although no cassette player now, its been round the world. Tropics, deserts and oceans a plenty, more airmiles than Troy Tempest. I should bin it. I don't have the heart. Too many memories in such a small package. I know.....sad😔
