  1. A very well tuned build SISU common rail with a very big turbo. Had the A series which was 95hp on a 3 cylinder and it was flawless just a bit too cramped. I dont think i ever got the front end off the deck though.
  2. Is that the world largest toolbox on the front of the roof mount? Does it need that much ballast out there?

  4. Wilsons has a few s/h winches at the moment Igland 4201 a Igland 55 and a Uniforest 8.5. All manual winches.
  5. Krpan 9 tonne or an 8.5 if you want an easy life. Get the folding butt plate with hydraulic cable spooling. as well as a full radio kit. Yes it will be expensive but the only winch you will ever need. My advice would be spend the money now on getting a Electro hydraulic winch over a manual as it will make your life so much easier. Radio option will be another thousand or so but will save that over its life in efficiency. Krpan also do double drum options and single drums with cableway reels on them.

  9. It will. Much like the SIP one it will run on a 13amp socket but only at 160amps. For the full 180 amps you need a 16amp supply.
  10. Ar+C02 is good. I must admit i forgot they did a mix. Its very good bit cleaner than pure co2 but not as smart as full argon. If your only doing ferrous metals then the Ar+C02 will be super, if you want to do anything more exotic then you'll need Ar. You can get fluxed wire now but i've not got the hang of it yet. Splatters all over the shop.
  11. SIP Autoplus 181DP Dual Purpose MIG Welder - SIP04791 | SIP UK I have that one. I've found it very good for the money. The Rtech stuff looks very good, I'm tempted by their plasma cutters. I'd use argon rather than CO2. I use to use W size bottles but it broke the wheels on the 181 so i now use a Y bottle. If your not going to use a lot buy a bottle and get it refilled as a BOC rental is expensive.

  13. My first one was much better.
  14. I had a D40 Navara on a 07 plate. I was the second owner previous owner was a lease company. Got it a 50k and ran it to 110k. It was a lovely drive and i generally liked using it. Downside was the number of things that went wrong with it. It ate front brake discs like they were going out of fashion. The front propshaft UJ went both ends. Then they went again, but changed them to greasable ones and then they were ok. Transfer box seals went twice with water ingress into the box. Turbo went at about 100,000ish Fuel rail and injection pump was on its way out. Had this weird fault nobody could discover what caused it to stall and stall again when you started it in the rain sometimes. Oh the heater got worse and worse - think the fan bearing was going as well. Alternator bearing went. Maybe a leak from the rocker covers but could have been the turbo throwing oil. 4wd sensors went two or three times. Despite my bad experience i looked at getting another one as i like them. Because they were the UK best selling pick up 4 or 5 years in a row you hear a lot of bad things about them just on numbers out there. I got a duffer no doubt about it but i know people who have had one problem free. Few people with a new clutch.
  15. Just check the light throw pattern. Nothing worse than having spots when you want floods.
  16. STIHL caps are the work of the devil. The twisty ones are a pain and spill fuel or oil everywhere. Oh and before that they had the ones that people felt the need to screw down.
  17. At first i saw the rake and thought nothing a bit of weld wont fix.....then i saw the rest of the machine. What did it look like before? Looks like its taken a beating and then got beaten again.
  18. Sounds about right really. Forestry kit tends to hold its value and Botex stuff particularly. Is it a 560 crane on an 8 tonne euro trailer or a 300 series crane on a eco or Farma trailer? If you want a Botex then its a good deal if you want cheap raw lifting power. Given the current pound euro exchange rate there are some very good deals on European made kit. You could be getting a new 7T trailer with 5.6m and crane for 10K or 12t 6m machine for 24k with driven wheels.
  19. Go to Scotland or Cumbria. If you really want to do forestry over here get on a machine. Good harvester/forwarder drivers command a good price. Lots of coppice cutting opportunities in Kent/Sussex but that's normally just winter work. Also lots of people offering it on day rate but you provide the insurance which is dodgy.

  22. All depends on ground conditions what size stuff you want to mulch and if your doing it with a 360 with power pack or a tracked mulcher or a tractor and mulcher. Most of the skill of doing it come from the operator not overloading it, they are effectively the no stress unit. Not sure of anybody who would rent this sort of stuff. Its hard enough to rent a tractor & timber trailer let alone a mulcher. As for a Buncher why do you want one? Whole pole normally means a lot of mess and a massive landing. Also you need some why of processing this massive amount of timber which means another 360 with either a head or a static processor. I can think of only one person who has a buncher in the UK off the top of my head. Noisy unwealdy things they are and take multi steming with a head to a whole massive tree level. If its good timber use a harvester, if its poor mulch it, if there is value hand cut it and short wood it out.

  24. Hi Looking at Rav4, 2012 model with 39k on it. 2.2L diesel. Any known issues and real world fuel efficiency from owners would be great. Overall what are they like as a vehicle? Thanks Andy
