Not tried it but i'd like to. I remember reading in EssentialArb that Decorum Council, which is just down the road from me use it in all their machinery. Not just for the health but it saved them a fortune in repairs due to poor fuel mixes and carb settings.

Our Kwick Chip has a clevis hitch on the frame. How you'd put a trailer on it and keep it level when you pick the chipper up i'll never know.

I thought you could tow 2 trailers behind a tractor.

I'm sure it most likely is. It doesn't look very good IMO saying that i've never done it anyother way. I mean if you've spent 600 odd quid on your chapter 8 kit whats another hundred for stop go boards. Saying that we've had cars drive through our traffic lights while felling across a road as they were red for a long time so there fore broken.

Larch is lovely stuff to mill. Milled a whole load last year for a roof had a man come in and grade the whole lot, i think it was 99% C24 SS grade and 1% C24 GS. Nearly 200 bits in all from 8x6 to 15x6. That was all Hybrid stuff. As long as you keep it off the ground it doesn't rot and unlike pines it doesn't stain. There is a couple of ads in the back of the Forestry Journal for people wanting Larch.

Mine did the same thing a couple of times. I sent it to the shop to be repaired in the end i think. It might of been the throttle cable in the end. It was a great bit of kit but it was replaced by the bigger and better 345rx.

I've been trying to get on a CS33 course for nearly 2 years now! Back when it was called large tree felling. Do you learn a lot more from CS32 any other cuts that boring out the centre of the hinge to reach around. I do this a lot as i use a short guide bar. Congrats on passing, you must of been good to have a second assessor there.

It was from Wilsons a long time ago. It's a bit of a mish mash of bits it a Botex roof mount crane on a trailer apparently. Don't know if its the orginal grapple but i asume so. So i'm guessing it's a Botex grapple.

Hi Greasing up the grapple on the trailer today and i noticed that there was a crack in the body. No camera with me so i have drawn it on this picture of the Botex grapple from the wilsons website. How is the best way to fix it plug it up with a bit of weald or is it going to be a new part of for the grapple. It starts at the edge of the metal and goes quite a way in. It's taken some abuse over the years and at one point the rotor did fall off. Thanks Andy

That is an amazing auger. We have a Danuser auger which is 3' long and 14" wide it's amazing for doing posts. We have a quantock post wacker too which is a nightmare to get keep the posts upright.

Thats a big saw for a day of forestry. It's all about the 346xpg or 357xpg if your feeling really strong. Some very nice felling though and some lovely bits of wood.

Just finishing up re coppicing a woodland that is going to be for firewood. It had a fancy management plan done by a company. They suggested a 21 year rotation. Thing with that is unless the owner is committed it's not going to get managed. I'd go for something like 15 years, it won't be the biggest loads of firewood but at least the owner is seeing a few more returns. Just my 2p worth. -
No it's not, well a few is but i couldn't imagin doing a roof of them. Also if you saw a log through and through as appose to 1/4 sawing it that is also called bastard sawing.

Yes they are. Ones cut with a saw work just fine but they are called bastard shingles. How do you set your saw to cut the angle of the shingle on the band saw?

We have a bracket that sits in place of the top link. The PTO pump has a bit mounted on it that holds part of the bracket that in tern hold the controls. The bloke from the NPTC didn't like our set up that the controls weren't in the cab and the rear window wasn't guarded.

Yep. Wether you pull the tractor to the load or a load to the tractor at full reach you still get the same problem.

Its a solid bit of kit pulls well its just started chewing up cable it's on its 3rd in 2 years now i think. I wish we had the double drum version though and also one without a bit of rope to pull to reel in logs.

Hi We have a Fransguard single drum winch and it is constantly chewing up cables. They kink and fray, the kinks get so bad that you can only get about 1/3 of the cable out by hand befor it needs to be pulled out with a jolt from the tractor. Sometimes you can't even get that much out. It started off when we used nylon core cable and Fransguard blamed that for the problem as it gets squashed. They sent us some steel cable which i can't remember how think and some may strands are in it, but that frays and jams too. Any idea whats wrong with the thing? We just can't afford to replace it. How big is that trailer about 7 tonnes? I really like forwarding got a bit to do in the next week or so. Never seen a steering drawbar before.

I'm the same. I use the large Komet Butterfly find it most comfortable, i use to use a good old T22 wide back which was also good but i found the Side Ds would stick into me after a while.

We have the one of the 10" PTO kwick chip chippers. It's good at its job but if you get something stuck in it, you'll be there for an hours getting it out. The frame it's built on fell in half at some point in its life too. No experence of their road tow stuff though. Don't Jenson do a 750kg chipper now?

I don't think i'd get a saw without heated handels now. Have it on the 346 and the 357. It's fantastic in the winter and on every rainy day when your gloves are wet.
