  1. Bit of T Cut and it will fine. Anyway its not a proper van without a dent or two.
  2. I'm in the same boat. May just have to phone the tax office or ask a accountant for the definative answer. Hopefully someone here will know.
  3. FMOC is Forest machine operator certificate. It's through NPTC. The tractor unit (wheeled rigid) is unit 1.3 and you'll need that before you can do the mulcher. Once you have that you can do others with it like tractor mounted harvester and forwarder. I think it was Land based training that i did my FMOC 1.3, 3.1,3.2,3.3 (which is forwarding) with. Did side arm with them too.
  4. I found out the answer to this a year or two ago but i can't remember now. I think it was upto 10 litres inside a van. Over that it has to be stored outside eg bed of a pick up.
  5. I think you be looking for the FMOC flails and mulchers unit. It's somewhere in unit 6 i think. You'll need to do a a unit 1.3 too for the tractor. Maybe lantra awards do something as well. Just done their side arm flail course so now i have a bit of paper telling me i can use it safely.
  6. I've just spent 120 quid on the Buxtons website. Their Bioplus is listed at 95+vat on the website.
  7. Seems about right seen it going for nearly 90+vat. Have you tried the Plant Oil bio oil. It's good stuff much thicker than the bioplus not sure on the cost. I tend to use tesco veg oil for day to day use proper saw oil on the big bars and on the Alaskan Mill.
  8. Briants of Risborough. Thinking back it was only 20 litres.
  9. About 50 quid for 25 litres of STIHL Bioplus. Although a lot of the time i pop down to tesco and get 5 litres of veg oil for a £1.50.
  10. A 346xpg with a 13" bar goes like the clappers good weight and balance too. I like the 357xpg too its a bit better for felling as its more powerful but i always go back to the 346.
  11. Most people will say No. Farmers on the other hand are normally open to the idea. If you have your own public liability insurance more land owners will be inclined to say yes. I've climbed in a public wood and someone called the police. They asked if we were trained and had mobile phones if we needed help, we said yes and they said carry on.
  12. Does anybody make a scailed down forwarding trailer for landys and the like?
  13. http://www.jaspwilson.co.uk/admin/data//pictures/Large-Beech-removal-4.jpg something like that? If you didn't use an Ifor willams trailer and used a PTO pump for the crane it would be rather afordable and have a load of uses.
  14. Ring the tree officer. E-mail them the pics and they'll send someone out to agree with you. Then that way you won't get any hassle in the long run.
  15. I asked that when i was booking my B+E as i'd have rather paid the extra money but it doesn't work that way according to the trainer as they are different catagories. You don't have to have B+E to do C+E. It's all so complex now.
  16. I really like my strech airs however the zip either falls off or breaks in two all the time. Number 4 is currently being put on. I have some HiFlexs too which i think are a bit more comfy but they do fall to bits quickly. I've been wearing my current pair since the end of December there are 5 paches on there already.
  17. My B+E trainning was £35 p/h with the test at £115. I think the C1 test is the same but training will set you back about £600 quid i think you need to get a medical done by your doctor for C1 too. You definatly do for cat C which cost even more. Thing that if you get your C+E you also get C1+E too but you still won't be able to drive a landy with a 3.5t trailer as that is B+E.
  18. Chichester College's Brinsbury Campus runs a 5 week arb/forestry ground person course. That is very very good i did the very first one 2-3 years ago now after a few years working with saws. There was plans to do an intensive 5 week aerial one as well.
  19. Our saw doctor told us that it was illegal to use diesel to a lubricant in saw milling. We now use plant oil's band saw emulsion. It's not really any good on our old Stenner 41 the search contiues for a better subsitue.
  20. I have a D22 because i couldn't afford a D40 although i'm thinking of upgrading. I get some 480 odd miles for a tank of diesel. Admidily that is a dual carageway and moterway driving to and from the estate. I only have all terain tyres on it but they do well enough.
  21. green-shopping.co.uk tools3 I got mine from here this time last year. Its great! Don't know if they have it in stock though.
  22. Sent you a PM.
  23. I did my agri based forwarding FMOC certficate ealier this year. You have to do a base module in my case a FMO 1.3 wheeled rigid esentially a forest guarded tractor. Then once you have that you can add to it with skidding forwarding and i guess harvesting too. I did 3.4 and 3.5 which is agri based forwarders crane on tractor cab and on bunk. I did mine through Vale Training in Buckinghamshire. The guy who did the training was a real pain so i wouldn't recomend him but the guy who assessed me was top notch i'll try and find his details.
  24. Hi Looking for some weekend work in Hertfordshire. I live in Hatfield but willing to travel. I have a CS30,31,32,38 also have tractor woodchipper FMO1.3 amd 3.1-3. Current first aid at work too. Thanks Andy
  25. Hello I'm new to buying wood in just for firewood as i've normally gotten by on tree surgery waste. A local estate has some Oak and Hawthorn sitting ride side in 8' lenghs. How much should i be looking at offering for the wood if they're willing to sell? Thanks Andy
