  1. Not sure.Do you think he might have had one of those "Swedish side strops" from back in the day? You know the ones that were just a bit of Cable with a Pussik on it? Not seen one of those for years. And topping down strops, three strand with a eye in it.
  2. Got the cab back on the Mog,after a repaint and replacement gearbox.
  3. How easy are they to turn? Could you turn them easily with a couple of fingers, without feeling much resistance?
  4. Much like the time you were struck by a Meteorite, punched into the Earths crust only to surf the Magma out of a Volcano and ride a Turtle back to Norfolk Ian.
  5. No. Velcro the Brackets on the night before.
  6. On the cold calling idea.I have done it too, works very well.Especially if as stated you look professional. In addition to a professional image,it is also important to have professional tools. This little idea has made me thousands... Buy a volt meter from Ebay,£10 gets you one. Mask off the screen Spray paint it Green Remove Tape Now you have your own "cellulose integrity meter" When you knock on the door, ask the client if they would like a free Tree check. If yes, push both probes into the bark, turn the dial and write the readings down. Then get out your Collins World of Trees and index the reading against the page number that the particular Tree you are "reading" is on. Of course the reading and the page are miles out and viola! you have a sale!
  7. Drive it into a 30 yard skip, fill with liquid cement, once it hardens push it into the Sea
  8. Sometimes I think there should be a term for those guys that display talent and initiative far beyond what most of us could dream of achieving. GF Beranek,Graeme Mcmahon,Reg Coats,Ian Flatters, Each has the distinction of being at the top of their game in their respective parts of the world.Beranek for North America,Mcmahon for Aus,Reg for Canada and Flatters for Europe. True "Masters of Arb"
  9. Daniel and Ian both share the distinction of being pioneers in the industry at the cutting edge of modern Arboriculture. "One of Europes Best" is a phrase I have heard describing Ian.
  10. You could build a Mosk? Muslims dont drink and like booze, they seem to be everywhere.
  11. Guy bought one who works for me.First day out with it he was soaked. I wish STEIN made bullet proof vests and sold them to ISIS.
  12. Who are you working for Adam?
  13. If a business shuts down selling a product there is a demand for, then a gap appears in the market for all to take advantage of. If he has not replied to any enquiries for the last 8 months then I think you are seeing that there is a demand that he is not meeting, however his advertising is working hence the enquiries.
  14. To mount a GRCS on a tree for removal using one man... Cut a kerf on the Tree, tap a wedge in,hang the backing plate on the wedge, tighten up the strap, knock out the wedge, slide on the winch. Takes about the same time as doing it with two guys.
  15. 2K is not alot of down time.I would suggest a Jensen.
  16. Yes. Rotate them to horizontal and they slip out.
  17. Yes.It has a schnellerruckwartsgetriebekasse or "fast reverse gearbox. All saws south of the equator a fitted with them.
  18. I saw them doing this at a steam rally when I was a kid [ame] [/ame]
  19. The Sun Sport Razzel These are almost always found in one of the Trucks in any Tree Crew.
  20. JK knew what she wanted to do and worked hard to get it.You are confusing genetic and accidental disadvantage with determination and talent. Every "little Author" has the possibility of publishing their work online for all and sundry to read. I am sure there are more than 100,000 Tree Surgeons in the Country, the owners of the largest companies should be making 10X what their new groundies earn. They after all have taken on all the stress and risk, their remuneration should compensate somewhat for this. Copyright, fortune or conversely infamy, all come down to fate. Her grand children have no say into what family there are born into.
  21. You live in a society where you can be anything you want to be.Picking on the successful is to often a way of excusing ones own shortcomings. The safe way to do the Hedge was with the correct Traffic management in place, this caused some disruption. If the correct procedures where not in place and the company was fined, the tabloids and yourself would be crying blue murder and exploitation of the working class by the rich. I suggest working that little bit harder and that little bit smarter, concentrating on building your own success to distribute your own new wealth amongst your own employees.
  22. Personally at your age and with the choice of free training I would choose another career to take abroad. You will be in your early 40's by the time you have gained enough experience to be handy climbing wise. A 40 year old bloke with just a few years experience is not the most attractive employee.
  23. Very unusual. I have been climbing on my MKI for about three years,in one of the worlds rainiest cities. No rust as yet but its about worn out. It might be staining or sap?Have you tried cleaning it off with Alcohol?
