  1. You strongly resemble a Pilot I once knew.Do you have an Irish co pilot per chance?
  2. Thank you all for your replies. David.I do not remember seeing it on any Trees in the UK,I wasn't interested in Fungus then. I will cook it up just now,I vaguely remember it being edible. The Client is worried the Tree might come down in a Storm,it has a very limited Root area and stands just a few feet from the House.
  3. I found this on a veteran Oak that has sustained machine damage as well as being topped. There are about 5 brackets up to about two meters above a decaying wound. The fungus has grown out if the living cambium I have no idea what fungus it is
  4. Spot on Rupe! I have a bloke working for me now,who did his Large Tree Felling ticket in Wales before he came over. After seeing him kok up a few medium Trees I asked how many Trees he felled on his course... 4 Trees! They cost him £100 per Tree.
  5. Peaky Grinders Forest Stump Stump Humpers
  6. I can't see the problem with it. I hire in kit that i dont have the constant demand for, some of which is owned by people I compete against. The splitter would be at a yard, converting waste into product in a way more efficient than normal.I think people would see the value in hiring it.
  7. I tell them the waiting time and call them a week before we begin. Most people are happy with this arrangement. work is steady here.
  8. .44 Magnum,so pretty ordinary. The .50 ones are banned here.Although they are substantially less powerful than a 20 gauge shotgun.
  9. My Desert Eagle in brushed satin nickle. Entirely impractical weapon, makes me grin like a loon every time I fire it though.
  10. You can use a 6" Chipper to chip 9" diameter Stems, you just have to do it nearly twice over.
  11. I have had a couple of Zarges boxes for about 7 years.I think they are the best thing for the job. In my experience plastic boxes are a waste of time due to their relative fragility compared to Aluminium.
  12. Without a shadow of a doubt the air streams are the best arb boot i have owned. I am nearly two years on from my first pair.Which is the longest service I have had from a pair of boots. I suggest you try them for a bit longer Dave
  13. There can't be many "Tier one" Climbers that are also gifted mechanics like your self ian:thumbup: Following this thread with great interest.
  14. True. It was interesting to learn that fly tipping and dumped cars are not a recent phenomena too.
  15. First time out since I swapped the gearbox and painted it. Adjust the clutch tomorrow and tidy up the electrics
  16. Light weight equipment is simply a derivative of engineering excellence. To be critical of an object that can achieve the same strength and function of another weighing twice as much,is a gross example of ignorance. If a Boeing 777F can carry a payload of 103,000kg from Hong Kong to Torronto, operating a thousand functions, who except for a Luddite would question the research and design of a multinational company whos product contains two moving parts?
  17. Pull off as much as you need in a coil, flip it over and then pull it up the Hill.
  18. The opportunity exists for a experienced second climber to assist with a small well equiped company in Bergen Norway.Working with Trees and equipment larger than the norm. The terms are full time "cards in" with pension and holidays after three months.Self employment is unavailable due to Norwegian Tax law. This position would be ideal for a newly qualified ex forces member although not limited to such applicants Accommodation is provided in the form of your own apartment ,10 mins bus ride from Central Bergen. Wages to depend on ability, attitude and qualifications Minimum requirements: B+E or pre 1997 Licence Chainsaw competence CS30,31 A motivated self starting attitude Ability to work on occasion unsupervised. Desirable requirements. Some experience working abroad CS 38 Mechanical aptitude Accepting applications now, applicants will be required to trial for a week.Air fares refunded to the successful applicant. Send all C.V. and expression of interest to:[email protected]
  19. Its a Pioneer Hatchet that was issued to Wehrmacht Mortar Crews during the War.
  20. This might be a challenge for the Axe experts. Who was this Hatchet made for and when? I researched the markings on it and came up with a bit of a supprise.
