  2. Brown envelope with cash is all you need mate:001_smile:
  3. Yeah ive heard that about the class lessons too mate. i thought it was compatable to NPTC but if it isnt then i think it seriously lessons the value of the course. its better than nothing but it could be improved a fair deal. I know that getting your RPLs converted with David Glenn will be easy enough though.

Hey bro-heard it was nice and warm in chch today! bloody hot here in aucks too. ive got some wicked pohut photos (and those splicin ones for ya) but ive lost my cable so cant upload.
  8. Im pretty sure the that otago college has stopped doing the diploma in arb. The main educational provider is Wintec based in waikato, middle north island. Ther is also NZHito training which is a work based vocational training. you get modules of work to complete and have to attend training days every month or so. I think it takes 3 years to complete to level 4 which is roughly a Nat Dip. A company called Horttraining offers training courses in NZ and singapore. Most compannies are doing the NZHito training as it lowers there ACC premiums(i think). If you enrol to NZHito it doesnt matter if you leave a company-you just continue the training at the next company. I think thats correct:001_smile:
  9. Hey ross, i brought 2 020s over a while ago. removed the spark plugs, took everything apart and cleaned like hell. then gave a good going over with spray to make it as clean as possible.then vacuum packed to prevent any later contamination. customs were happy that id done enough to sterilise it and made it impossible to be used in flight. Seeds in peoples socks is a big one here now (and oz) so make sure there real clean( or just buy new). and thoroughly clean ya harness and gear bag too. see ya soon bro...........
  10. we sometimes leave big stubs so that your rope isnt running over open, flush wounds. only on removals though. also works well on some of the pines here that just ooze sap from cuts.

heres a pic of the setup. its really easy to setup and use. i actually think its maybe the best setup to use when doing an aerial rescue. if there rope is ok you can still clip them to the end as another point of atttachment. if you do descend with two people on your line its important to add friction (such as a fig8) when descending.
  12. i reckon the best double pulley is the isc one without the becket in the middle.the cmi one ive got is a bit of a pain to install. i dont really use mine much tbh. used it a lot pulling branches open within the crown to allow crane cables to operate through the crown but thats not exactly a common job!
  13. Ive just got the Husquarvana T20 trousers, not sure what they are like compared to the stretch airs but these seem to be really nice trousers. With the heat here at the moment the big zipped vents down the back of the legs is a god send. nice and stretchy too. only front protection mind but i dont think rear is needed when climbing anyway.
  14. heres a couple of setups that i use, all seem to work differently on different days but all work well for me.some days they twist the rope, some days they dont, etc...
  15. if you can get hold of the Donaghys Spark 16 strand rope will you will find it the easiest rope in the world to splice bar none. but i imagine getting hold of some will be the problem! and good luck with the splicing.

it is very sad indeed. i think more time should be spent practising rescues where the victim has to be lifted ie out of a crotch. 90% of the guys at work had no idea how to do this so this is what we are concentrating on in the timebeing.
  18. i reckon it could be really good. problems would be not being able to see the wear and not being able to attach midline. The idea seems obvious now ive seen it!!
  19. ive just been reading about it being used as a hitch. make a spliced eye in one end, then open the braid up and feed your climbing line through the empty core for a cple of inches and exit. this is your hitch. the idea seems kinda neat but i havent tried it yet.

My meindl air streams arrived yesterday and they look like really really well made boots and they are not as red as i thought they were going to be! a damn site lighter than my newly retired klima airs too.

  25. get nice and low down, sit in your harness and face your anchor point. look over your shoulder to where your going and just glide out there.
