  10. Rangitoto volcanoe in auckland harbour, totally covered in pohutakawa and goes kinda red at xmas due to the flowers but still looks good everyday. and a reason to love summer.............
  11. Acmena we removed just before christmas.Right next to avery busy 4 lane CBD junction. The only thing that held the two stems together was 2 cables. the fruiting bodies came out of virtually every wound from ground right up to the upper canopy. tree was removed with 50/50 climbing v EWP operator. was nice to see this tree finally gone.
  12. no worries david, on the stem that failed, the wood was just crap. hence the hasty takedown.
  13. Definetly ganoderma but cant be any more specific. was a rushed job just to take it back to a standing stem due to it being leaning towards the house in the picture. When the stem gets taken down i will be sure to get some more pics. All the oaks seem to be falling over at the moment. That stem fell out on another perfect sunshine day.
  14. Co Dom Oak that split out yesterday. glorious day to be climbing today and no chipping involved.

yeha i like totara, especially when they have beeen deadwoded. pittos suck. but the kauri is still a fave.
  17. Have you tried using the large caritool? heaps better imo
  18. and its not first time here on the oak trees.............when there are no fruiting bodies and the tree looks to be in good health, what causes the root rot? any ideas? A lot of the oaks here seem to have very little buttressing of the roots-many look like sticks just shoved in the ground.
  19. absolutely no wind whatsoever.it just came down.

  22. An Oak tree that came down smack in the middle of Aucklands CBD, albert ark. This place is mormally jammed with people but luckily a sudden downpour made it deserted. Was a lovely hot day too. unbeleivable that no one was hurt.

i liked how this tree was flowers on one side and leaf on the other. Taken at raglan beach, nz.
