  1. One thing we forgot to mention was that the pinto technique doesn't really work of you have stitched eyes on your rope. 9/10 they will not go through the pinto on retrieval and you'll be stuck- well not stuck but you'll have to climb back up to retrieve some other way... Just a heads up.
  2. Those pulleys should be absolutely fine for using as an anchor for yourself- no issue at all in my book.
  3. Use the fid as a snare.. And make sure it's tapered
  4. Cheers guys, we had big plans to shoot some really cool baobab srt stuff but we got hit with the worse weather sa has had for a very long time. Bad weather as in cows were neck deep in water kinda rain.... Hopefully the vid explains a few things, 'twas all done on the fly tbh.
  5. you can get the antal rings-they are from italy. x rings are just rebranded
  6. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ckx02ChiO_E&list=UUOhsnbUlPrBD6XsMyM5afAQ]SRT Anchors - YouTube[/ame] a short vid shot in the hideously wet politsio valley, South Africa. hope it helps:) Big thanks to TreeStuff, Yale Cordage, ISC and ActSafe.
  7. Thats PBI safety in christchirch bro- a brethren company apparently. ZERO is there own brand gear i believe. They have been trying for ages to fet into the arb market-hawking to asplundh and treescape et al with little success..
  8. yeah its the new rope by Yale which i believe Joe has a had a big influence on. feels a very weird rope but when you see Joe climb on it-it works damn well..
  9. wonder if the new spider line for the sj will be the best bet for the lj also?
  10. I spilled some strong repellant with deet in it on my computer and it melted the cover. Always been a bit cautious about being on my skin after that but luckily mozzies don't bother me much at all.
  11. I think having a spare battery and swapping is better as the unit gets bigger and heavier with the backup on it. The sd card will shoot 4hrs 40 mins at 1080p- the battery will only last 2hrs tops and about 1 hr if using the wifi option.
  12. The silver shoots perfectly good quality and the 4k feature is overboard unless your shooting real high class stuff and have the editing suite to match. And Te silver is cheaper!!
  13. I've never dislodged the gopro yet with that mount. And having it on Te front does keep it more protected in my opinion rather than on the top. If you gopro it- do t bother with the black model, stick with the silver.
  14. using the lopro mount like this means the gopro doesnt stick out at all. and being central means it doesnt unbalance the helmet. the best part (for me) about gopro is the immense amount of aftermarket trickery you can get-polarised filters, external mics, crazy mounts etc..
  15. for crane work id just drt personally
  16. I've found that it doesn't squeeze the water out of ropes which is nice for descending..
  17. carbon geckos
  18. The TruPulse 360R is even easier-point it base of tree, click, point at top of tree, click, and voila it tells you the height and the lean of the tree.
  19. The 3 I've seen have been sitting on shelves and not being used anymore

  23. If it ever stops being torrential rain we will!!! Pretty much hasn't stopped since we arrived......
