  9. Best month? What weather do you prefer? It's. Small country but varies from sub alpine to almost tropical.. How much you bring totally depends on how long you want to stay!! Do you rent a full furnished house etc no point bringing everything g you own if it's a 6 month trip.. I arrived with 2 backpacks.... What work do you enjoy? Personally if arrange a job, fly out with enough gear to work, harness rope toys etc and bag of clothes. If you really like it get more stuff shipped out. The distance from the UK can out a lot of people off, especially partners. You don't really know til you try..

    Kauri NZ

This is all on public land and being done with a scientist to measure the mass of the kauri. All steps are taken to ensure to tracking in of phytpohera with boots sterilized before reaching the root plate of any kauri. - there is a walking track metres from this one. I firmly believe the public has to be shown how amazing these trees are to secure funding to save them. Locking them away will not save them. Pigs and trampers are spreading the disease irrespective in my opinion. Yeah, it's an absolutely beautiful spot. Cheers
  11. Brilliant, thanks David.
  12. Totally have. It just comes down to finances though- if we get them supplied we will install them in a heartbeat. I think if we find evidence of the parrots having a look inside or any nesting material, it will be a lot easier to get the funds. And installing them at around 30m height limits who can swap the memory cards over etc
  13. one of the biggest issues we had was bees taking over the nnest boxes, will be interesti g to see if the jeyes fluid and xray paer (inside) will of worked. we have had reports of the parrots going close to them and looking interested, fingers crossed they make the next step. tbh, if we dont continue with the monitoring its probably a pointless task, so regular trips will have to be made.....

    Kauri NZ

yep, its an external mic. the epiphytes, mosses, lichens, orchids etc are amazing. at about 20m the garden was bigenough for 4 or 5 people to stand in. we located another possible 50m kauri and confirmed it with lidar- aiming to go back early jan to climb and measure. Its an absolute pleasure to be able to climb these magnificent specimens
  15. Just phone up aus immigration.
  16. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRh4yjcSUew]Cape Parrot Breeding Box Project - YouTube[/ame] We spent august in South Africa installing bird boxes in the hope of nesting pairs using them. We go back in february to monitor and install some more. thanks for your time..

A great day measuring a Kauri (Agathis austalis) just outside of auckland. possibly 1000 yrs old and a height of just over 44m. aesome and amazing but sadly probably dead in next 30 years if kauri Dieback disease is not brought under control

  19. Agreed bro!
  20. i think Ross maybe got his wires crossed!!!!
  21. Steve's right, it will flop and not self tend. Yeah, I think the rope comes installed on the zillion and is stitched on both ends- you'd have to cut an end off to install/remove.
  22. The zillion had a ton of drag on the one I used- not smooth at all on the supplied rope.
  23. The D4 is bigger than the rig and heavier. First impressions is a bomb proof base anchor...
  24. Yes I've got a d4- it's 100% not a lanyard adjuster!!
