  1. have you done any drop testing with the straps in place? using just one strap and both? proper drop tests, not just using at work. are the straps designed to be pulled upwards or are they just normal load binding straps? i know a climber got seriously injured in OZ the other week when the strap failed and the device flew up and hit him. Im not having a go, just enquiring as id hate to hear of a groundie or climber getting hurt.. best of luck with it
  2. agreed. but ive seen some pretty bad damage from climbing lines on trees where cambium savers are not used so its not just a speed/technique thing.
  3. treemotion harness. and learning to set and use a cambium saver is a must i believe.
  4. Your right Matt, it's not the answer- it's another option. Once you fully know it though, it does become a very good option a lot of the time.
  5. Yeah I think the iPhone market may have a slightly different business model than tree climbing gear......
  6. I can't see manufacturers exactly saying when there new stuff is coming out, as it would stop you buying the stuff tht is already out. It would be great if they did but I just can't see it happening... I think that what sales are for, getting rid of old stock once new stuff is out.
  7. Ha yeah I know bro, it was one of the terms we came up with writing the tcia srt booklet, srt redefines tie in point, esp witha base anchor. Actually think it makes a bit of sense though. Now, back to the Xmas beers...
  8. It's probably one of Te main safety advantages that srt can give you, multiple anchor points are possible. You could also add prussics on the line and make many semi permanent anchors if you thought your main psp :primary suspension point: was perhaps a tad dodgy..
  9. Hey bro, to tweak your setup download "the hitchclimbers guide to the canopy". Heaps of good tips n tricks in that document.

  12. Please oldmill, don't turn this Into a silly drt v srt debate. That's getting really old now.. Don't mean to offend you but a it's not what the guy asked b there's just no need. Sorry bro
  13. Loose the alpine butterfly bro and just tie a small prussic, makes it an adjustable o rig:)
  14. Couldn't even imagine having to wear full protection trousers.
  15. What I don't get with srwp- single rope work positioning is when was the last time anyone used 2 ropes for work positioning? Haven't we all been doing it for a very long time?
  16. its like cable bro. very quick to climb on but i wouldnt wanna fall on it, esp with toothed ascenders. ive got 80m of kernmaster for africa courtesy of Yale so ill let you know how it runs. i dont mind a bit of stretch on trees with anchors im unsure about ya know.
  17. have you got the blue tongue kernmaster bro?

    Boots

my old klima/tirroll fighters lasted 4 years and i changed them only because i fancied a different sort, not because they were worn out. just get them resoled every year and they last ages..
  19. dont worry about insurance bro. youll be covered by the company you work for and NZ has ACC so accidents are covered by the goverment.work or play.
  20. Arb equipment is generally all work positioning equipment- ie taught lines and no slack or shock loading. Fall arrest is when working above anchor points an using shock absorbers to prevent peak loading if a fall occurs. As a cambium saver has no shock absorber, it cannot be used as a fall arrest anchor.
