  4. I have been watching arborjet for a couuple of years now and seen some positive results in the US..... Saw them at the APF, the costs dont amount to anything near £500 per tree so some one is pulling it a bit, try £35-50 per tree

  8. As i have said i wouldnt waste any further money on the tree, but do take the sleepers away, it may help to prolong tree life a little further
  9. There is nothing you could add that would counteract the sort of crap that is in a sleeper x however many are there. This sort of situation really annoys me because the so called proffesional who specced this work and carried it out has no idea about the basics of there work ...... Any body who works with or around a living thing should know about that object wheter it is a tree, shrub or plant.. In my opinion there are way more cowboys in landscaping than in tree work and this yew tree is a prime example. Whoever did the design for this should be prosecuted along with the contractors...
  10. Yes to your wallet at about £ 600 - £1000 What is the point when the toxins are in the ground and most likely already done most of the damage...
  11. The toxins will still be in the ground even if you decompact and feed, so really it would be a waste of money.....
  12. When were the sleepers put there ? Sleepers whether they are ex rail or new and pressure treated will leach poison and toxin's into the ground - not very good for the tree... Secondly the weight of all those sleepers will have badly compacted the root area... Thirdly the sleepers will be affecting the amount of water getting to the roots.. The only way you can do something like that is by using cellweb as foundations and untreated wood.. The yew tree probably wont survive the shock and damage that has been caused even if you remove althe sleepers, Mr winger or myself could carry out some myc treatments ,decompaction etc but like i say that tree has taken to much and prob wont survive.
  13. If a tree has been inspected from ground level (scoping Survey) it will only give you an idea of features that may be used by bats - a ground survey can still miss important features that are not visable from the ground...... If the trees have been classed as offering high potential you must investigate further (endoscope-bat detectors). We tend to carry out a climbing survey checking the whole tree for features: -cavities -cracks -included bark -ivy -flaking bark etc etc.. once features are checked we use techniques to stop using the features after we leave and before tree works are carried out.. Depending on the potential of a tree its location and of course if bats are present or if bats have used a tree a licence must be applied for. ------------- I noticed a comment about felling the tree or limb etc and leaving over night to let the bats escape... do not do this as again you will have disturbed any bats and broken the law. Bats are alot more common in trees than people think and are generally not noticed as they are so small, there is the AA course for bats which is ok and does show you the basics of what to look for, it is important to remember that the course is very very basic, we are looking to do a course which will involve spending the entire day looking at features which we feel is more important to arborists than going into bat biology etc. The important thing to remember is that disturbing bats is against the law and according to Natural England trying to use an excuse like i didnt realise bats were in the tree isnt good enough as you have a duty of care.... Hope that helps , will read over what i have put in the morning when i am wide awake and comment further.
  14. If that was a bat expert who told you to do that he is an idiot who could have got you prosecuted.....
  15. Fantastic last pic Looks the biz let us know what you think after that huge job you have got..!
  16. a robot that drags out brash all day without moaning ?
  17. i know pounds are an issue but i think you may have been better buying a good used 020/200, the echo's are a good saw pound for pound but a 020 would take the day to day abuse, at least you didnt buy the husky top handled......
  18. Get your basic fungi books and get searching on the net as that is the greatest resource..... There isnt a book that is thourgh on free related fungi which is a shame...
  19. Not bad for the money, there is one on ebay at the moment with a tracked barrow adapted to fit it on....
  20. Seen another tonight in the garden, quite advanced had to kill it as it was nasty. Also just had a badger pop through the gaeden had chewed through the rabbit wire....
  21. Prety silly place to leave the 026 really, under or next to a big log / stem Hmmmm...... Out of sight, easily stolen Hmmmm... wish i was around at the time with my hoody, could of snuck up behind the stem and then gone and flogged it down the local...... :001_tongue:
  22. Has anybody seen an increase in there area. While out with the dogs this morning i saw 2-3 and we have killed a good few this week. I belive that the virus likes the wet humid summer we had and thats why it is very common at the moment.
  23. Ask bob Rolf on here, he had a good fiddle with one and tried it out, i think hje thought itr was very good...
  24. £1 per kilo fine doesnt cut it imo, it also isnt so funny when you cant break hard enough and run in the back of someone, ruin there lives or even kill someone...... Everybody in this industry has been overweight at somestage but thinking about how could you live with yourself if you crippled or killed someone due to being overweight and not being able to stop sufficently... Not a laughing matter
