  4. what size and type you after
  5. real shame and so sad
  6. The EN397 was only a top inpact standard so new helmets must comply to EN 12492 which as previously been mentioned is also a side impact test so generally does need the new mountaineering style helmet but stien as an example still do very similar looking helmets that only comply to EN397 only really came best practice in feb when they updated the AFAG,s so it,s not how many point,s of attachment ect it,s weather it attains the correct EN standard hope that makes sence
  7. they would go well with my jetboil:thumbup:
  8. will do tomorrow left my phone somewhere but basically a longer piece of elastic with a clip on end to make it easier to put on and take off
  9. refreshers cover loads mate inc changes in legislation and techniques what do you think instructors do if they dont know much about kit all instructors should be up to date with kit and srt as even they have to do updates to still be instructors even a basic chainsaw refresher for a day would be helpfull i do not believe you have no bad habits or forgotten something the thing that always annoys me is everyone blames and slates NPTC for this refresher training stuff it,s NOT NPTC its PUWER and how many others have other quals like hiab ipaf ect that do only last 5 years and no one complains about them but then again there are imo far too many unqualified people using equipment and the likes without relevant training or quals even wagon drivers now have to do 37 hrs training assessment type stuff every 5 yrs to keep there licence:confused1: sorry for rabbling
  10. mine sort of goes over left shoulder and under left arm pit and clips back on similar but safer imo and still works
  11. :thumbup:i have exactly the same set up as john and works well but dont like putting elastic round my neck:confused1: now sort of a longer bandolear at the mo also john it best to store your ascenders closed it does not do the springs any favours to store them open but find it very rare to find an ascent long enough to bother getting it all out
  12. the main reason pillow case is recomended is the drum gets rather warm so just a layer between rope and drum even on low heat they get warm i have a weaver rope wash bag which is basically fine netting so better than a pillowcase as before i will highly recommend the BEAL ropewash available from most arb and rock climbing shops designed for washing ropes so no worries:thumbup::thumbup:
  13. i have done similar but find a old file pointy end and just hot enough to melt but not too hot go halfway then turn over and do opposite and use some throwline nice tight compact hole:001_tt2:cant beat it:thumbup:
  14. went out at 11.30am till 9pm today now got pressys to wrap but just had a little sleep:thumbup: so no more for me
  15. similar but really different climbing is very personal what one likes does not suit another i also have a lockjack but personally prefere the spider but lockjack is certainly more common but vt even more so who knows been out all day on beer so hope that made sence now have to wrap pressys:thumbdown:
  16. i use a spiderjack:blushing:
  17. tbh if learning them before the day then either are fine as extra,s will be covered and not tons of difference if in doubt ring training provider and just ask which ones:thumbup:
  18. think your getting the hang of arbtalk now hammy:thumbup::thumbup:
  19. looking good bet it was warmer in your house than my garage:thumbup: i would be in deep trouble splicing in the house and tying to bannister would get me shot got some more gas:thumbup:

  23. my biggest issue with proper large pollards is they just start to look like tree and they need chopping back again:confused1: although young maintained ones look ok although i can not think where there is what i would deem a proper pollard within an hours drive of my house:blushing:
