  11. yes rupe tried it but found sling doubled that i normally carry a lot simpler or running line through swivel if that makes sence also not a massive vt fan spiderjack mainly or lockjack
  12. as my last post says not found a use but ropeman 1 holds my mountain bike up in garage roof when i pull it up on the 5-1 system probably not the best or cheapest system but was not using it for anything else:thumbup: ropeman 2 i just use as a adjuster when trying new ideas or bits but never in real world stuff:blushing:
  13. just as a point the ropeman 2 addressed those serrations and is now better and safer The Ropemen Devices cam is more like an ascender cam but still have found a good use for it
  14. as you say what utter crap so if age does not matter by petzl top bods why do they stipulate exact max replacement dates if it does not matter i am not or ever have said that age is the primary concern but to make a statement that age does not matter and then go on to try to promote yourself as the only guy that knows what he is doing grates a little i do not know what quals you have but i presume you have in your exam would you of not asked date of equipment if not marked and if that had of been over 10 yrs would you of passed it even if in good condition sorry could go on and on but thats enough for now:blushing:
  15. totally agree with marc as an alternative this fits splices:thumbup:DMM Single Swing Cheek Pulley but would rather use an art one as the swing cheeks will damage rope ect
  16. WAB Forum • Index page not this one i presume:blushing:
  17. the surrounding trees could do with a selective thin get rid of the bracken the oak looks like it,s in a nice woodland setting so should be left to do what it wants and what nature dictates but not sure why that photo is in a thread titled pollards as i hope your not going to reveal you or someone else pollarded it:confused1:
  18. good one spat me tea out:001_tt2:
  19. he did say 2 natives as well as 3 fast growing although another thought could be a small charge for tpo applications that went towards maintainingg vet trees ect

  23. big thing you want is to be able to put enough info on label 5 lines is about right a lot of machines only do 1 or 2 lines
  24. maybe they are treated with something or made from a different material but good point dave:confused1: maybe down to regs or en or just been overlooked
  25. as arbocop says the manufactures information is king. look at the maximum lifes on the paperwork that should come with any item of PPE and it wii 99 % of the time have an obsolence period. in the absence of that for textile ppe the rule of thumb is max 5 year work 10 year shelf what ever you get to first ie 9 years in the box still only one year working. The reason most assessors condemn things based on age is to cover their own back side sorry its to comply with manufacturers info and relevant en testing ppe regs and loler also if you have a harness sat in a box for 10 years you are doing something wrong if you really want me to trawl through to find legislation for 10 yr life i will i have seen it somewhere but the basic will be refere to manufacturers info so check your info on your harness and see what it says:thumbup:
