  1. Hey Jon This is where we buy Buck & Hickman Search: HONEYWELL NORTHFLEX OIL GRIP GLOVE 9 Plymouth branch. R
  2. This is of course sound advice if you are comfortable (to cut a very long story short) with the effects on environment / uk economy. The only other business model to make a decent return is to invest > 50K like many of us on the forum and have all the correct kit to have a medium scale setup. You will never, ever make a credible return in Firewood with a splitter as you have to handle timber. Sorry to be blunt but you would be better off labouring for £10 - 12 /hr with no overheads and a quiet life.
  3. I am interested to hear others views on SRT, as clearly the Spiderjack 3 was not designed with SRT climbing in mind?
  4. I am sure you will have watched the video, however here is a link: [ame] [/ame] Those who have used ART products previously, will know of their faultless build quality. You can rest assured there will be no stress cracks appearing like the ZZ. That locking mechanism is genius. As with all mechanical rope access hardware, rope choice is paramount. The price tag will pale into insignificance when you have invested in a Spiderjack 3 !
  5. Worth every penny !
  6. Perhaps all us road users who drive every day should have a refresher driving course every 5 years:001_rolleyes:
  7. If you ask an 'owner driver' they will tell you it's a fairer system of measurement, as Soft that has been roadside for several months will give them far less tonnage on a full load than say Hard felled in June. If they sold Soft by Tonnage they would get significantly less per drop. They need to earn a living and this helps them to do that.
  8. OOps - 45 M3 that should read - Apologies. At least someone is paying attention !
  9. Why do you want to know that figure Bob? Perhaps you want to know what a load will cost you. You will pay tonnage for Hard and meterage for Soft (generally). 25 Tonne of Hard will give you 45 Tonnes average if split to 10" (250mm). Does this help?
  10. No major issues whatsoever - take your time and practice on some old chain de-riveting and spinning new ones, before moving onto the real thing. The cost of a few rivets is minimal
  11. Do you dry Firewood and Chip ?
  12. I recall Adam Bourne has been using a Pinto for quite some time - perhaps that says it all
  13. Consultancy is similar to Contracting - 5 years experience and you start to become usefull to someone.
  14. I am wondering if it may be at the AA Trade Fair that we 1st get to see one real time
  15. More food for thought - the advantages are huge -higher temperature daily cycle equating to drying time reduction, less re-fueling intervals and larger door opening for mechanised loading. I am wondering why some are adding a 2nd boiler instead of upgrading to 1 500kWh boiler linked to a modular system of containers, with the exhaust vents progressively feeding to longer cycle containers.
  16. Ah, I am enlightened now - great thanks. I am surprised we don't hear of larger boiler installations in light of what you have highlighted. I think a Farm 2000 was circa 13K last time we spoke, I wonder what a 3-400 kWh batch boiler is.
  17. So is it correct to say you need perfect fuel and the labour to run it flat out for 1314 hours to receive the optimum return? Thanks.
  18. The weight will not be an issue as it will just be sitting at the static end of the system in an improved ergonmic position. Less braking pressure required and I don't see that locking button causing any issues. The choice of cam size will make it tend better than ever. Anyone know a dealer in the UK who can give a definite ETA ?
  19. Sorry, I am uncertain of the maths if installing a 300 boiler. I understood that at the current rate tier 1 was capped at 250,000 kWh 13,600?
  20. I think you are on a higher tariff than Jan 2016 levels.
  21. This is all solid quantifiable data. Circa 4 years approx. payback on a GF installation, factoring in the fuel costs For the rest of the year many volume log producers may be better off air drying the rest, as they still need to buy stock wether they Kiln Dry or Air dry. There again once dry the timber could be bulk stockpiled, so perhaps not.
  22. I agree on the size difference v weight. When I get the time I will get some data on crates of different sizes weighed. Stock and the dedicated storage for > 500m3 is a fair investment - 12.5K stillages, 10K roundwood, plus associated costs - say 25K. So that is 25K tied up indefinately rising as timber prices rise. I see a combination of the 2 being the best option for many if you have the dry cover of course. It's still satisfying filling stillages with green processed wood, stacking and a short time later empty and off they go.
  23. There we go - 4m3 per tonne for Larch - this is the sort of data required to give quantified results. Douglas can be similar. All processed at 50cm. Still looking for other's feedback on the 'Net profit' on RHI from my earlier post after costing all the overheads associated with drying Firewood. Thanks.
  24. What model is that one, are you replacing it with state of the art replacement?
  25. Buy a Petzl, you get what you pay for. Change the duracells for re-chargable. TIKKA XP - You'll see what I mean.
