So is it correct to say you need perfect fuel and the labour to run it flat out for 1314 hours to receive the optimum return? Thanks.

The weight will not be an issue as it will just be sitting at the static end of the system in an improved ergonmic position. Less braking pressure required and I don't see that locking button causing any issues. The choice of cam size will make it tend better than ever. Anyone know a dealer in the UK who can give a definite ETA ?

Sorry, I am uncertain of the maths if installing a 300 boiler. I understood that at the current rate tier 1 was capped at 250,000 kWh 13,600?

I think you are on a higher tariff than Jan 2016 levels.

This is all solid quantifiable data. Circa 4 years approx. payback on a GF installation, factoring in the fuel costs For the rest of the year many volume log producers may be better off air drying the rest, as they still need to buy stock wether they Kiln Dry or Air dry. There again once dry the timber could be bulk stockpiled, so perhaps not.

I agree on the size difference v weight. When I get the time I will get some data on crates of different sizes weighed. Stock and the dedicated storage for > 500m3 is a fair investment - 12.5K stillages, 10K roundwood, plus associated costs - say 25K. So that is 25K tied up indefinately rising as timber prices rise. I see a combination of the 2 being the best option for many if you have the dry cover of course. It's still satisfying filling stillages with green processed wood, stacking and a short time later empty and off they go.

There we go - 4m3 per tonne for Larch - this is the sort of data required to give quantified results. Douglas can be similar. All processed at 50cm. Still looking for other's feedback on the 'Net profit' on RHI from my earlier post after costing all the overheads associated with drying Firewood. Thanks.

Apologies - should have read 3.5 m3 when dried to 20% MC. (see my latest post)

2m3 roughly - agree with that for volume when processed, however when dried to 20%, 1 tonne = 3.5 m3. Have some green soft here at 60 and 62% MC.

1 tonne split green logs for fuel approx. equates to 4m3 when dried to 20% MC, which is what you burn in 24 hours to heat the 40ft container with 36m3 of logs in. Part of eack batch of 36 you need to be kept for boiler fuel. I am just trying to ascertain the exact return per annum 'at todays' RHI medium tariff rate, one would recieve as 'Net profit' after the fuel costs and associated overheads are factored in. My rough costings show that an annual 'net profit' from the RHI 'at todays' medium tariff rate to be approx. £9,200. Anyone care to say what 'net profit' from the RHI their costings give?

Don't forget the roundwood has to be handled - processed - handled - dried - handled - fed into boiler = fuel / labour / overheads for everything associated with the above, so there are a lot of hidden costs! The RHI may have been 20K per annum for those who signed up early, however the actual net profit on the RHI scheme is far below that. Many benefits if course even so.

How many tonnes of Softwood would you estimate Ash to secure the 20K RHI?

Do the easy service items 1st. 1 The 2 main fuel filters. 2 The bronze mesh filter in alloy head of the glass bowl water trap - carefull not to damage it - use a fine pointed knife to pull out one edge 1st. 3 Fuel tap tank filter. Do you know how to bleed fuel system after working on fuel system?

Do you kiln dry a few crates in each batch like most others and do you still dry a Batch in 5-6 days - 40 ft container? Thanks
