  1. 100ml of Glyphosate active ingredient per 5 litres water mixed with a vegetable oil based adjuvant - learnt a lot on that 2 day pesticide course!
  2. Those big rings really need a flat table to move them around on.
  3. Do you find the 4 way much quicker than 2 way, time you assess thje size of each piece to be quartered?
  4. Treequip know more than most, perhaps he knows - plenty of oil in that huge resovoir to keep the setup cool, thats for sure!
  5. Already do that, so keen that they are as productive as possible and they have decent kit.
  6. Agreed - tried several splitters, most not great, generally too slow. Planning to build a decent unit shortly, not going overboard 16 tonne with a cycle time variable between 2 and 4 seconds. Be talking to a couple of hydraulics companies 1st though - far more to consider than anyone can imagine one into variable cycle rates.
  7. Had one on a demo. DMAX this is some truck! DJB from East Allington, Devon had one - 170K on the clock and only replaced just a tail light bulb from the day he bought it. Strangely, having made a bit of money, he bought a brand new one!
  8. "you could use a pressure beyond 2 bank double acting spool valve" Thanks for reply - not sure how to go about this. Current splitter needs 20l/min @ 2500psi. 35 x produces 18l/min. However tried splitter on 35X and cycle time is about 12 seconds!
  9. So the black plastic connector is called that - led to too much air too little fuel. I guess many of us have suffered similar failures and not realised it.
  10. More like 5 decades, with experience comes wisdom - nice shiney new PTO pump made in Italy - agreed thanks - looking forward to a quiet life!
  11. A success story, but not sure how many could tackle that job themselves? Thanks
  12. Monterey for firewood - Never has good press over the years, but maybe not just black and white.
  13. Happened to be speaking to a Lady last week who had a garden full of 70 ft Monterey Pines. She spoke of a couple that had failed in storms over the last 3 years and how good the wood was for the fire! She went on to say that the Tree Surgeon had split a load up for her and stacked in an outside lean to. After keeping it there for a year she says she uses it on her open fire and it burns beautifully and does not spit or spark!!! Comments most welcome with interest.
  14. Thanks for the advice, should help out several out there with 35's.
  15. Pto pump gives a seperate auxillary circuit and with a male output shaft can run a processor in tandem, but need to hear from the Hyd. guy how the flow rate to the splitter can be varied without issue. Probably a case of - get what you pay for, so looks like all Hyd kit from Italy - can't go wrong then. Lots of conflicting views on the forum, which is understandable. Get there eventually!
  16. Thanks for the advice. The longer you live the sooner you realise that it pays to go to an expert. I shall look of the option of a multipower pump but most likely go to a specialist Hydraulic company who is able to guarantee everything matches and I end up with a robust system which will give longevity. Need to have pto speed constant at 480rpm as I plan to run processor in tandem off same tractor. Going to be interesting what the Hyd company advise for controlling the flow rate to the splitter. Will post their reply after I phone tomorrow.
  17. We have same saw, same symptoms. Just noticed inlet manifold from carb not correctly aligned with flange on barrell after re-assembling and the snap clip can be tricky to close.
  18. What is involved in retrofitting the exchange parts?
  19. Thanks for crunching the numbers. Sounds like a dedicated external pump may be most cost affective and with variable flow control can run a range of splitters which we have.
  20. Ah ok, though internal pumps were fairly robust, but fair comment. An external pump will require a resovoir of course, no big deal of course.
  21. Sounds much better than 4 gallons per min, may be fairly costly though? Thanks for replying.
