  1. The only time I've seen a bars badly bent, is with inexperienced climbers doing outboard step cuts on the 2nd cut freefalling limbs. Very likely to be left hand cutters sharpened shorter or longer than the r/h ones, or possibly the top right angle corners damaged on the cutters one side if a full chisel chain. You mentioned sharpening issues already - either way buy him a new chain and learn from your mistake. We've all been there mate, these things happen!
  2. Check the Bar for straightness, if OK, buy him a new chain and keep the old one, that way he will still feel good about you borrowing the saw.
  3. This is music to my ears ! - Just sent mine off to Spud. It's has been a great saw for a long long time and I expect even greater when Spud's worked his magic.
  4. Perfect, I think the reduced airflow will adversely effect drying times on your normal sized logs, which as you know is critical. Great solution for smaller sizes though. Thanks
  5. That's cunning - they must stand the Kiln heat ok then. Must be fiddly keeping them in place while you fill, or perhaps they lip over the top of IBC while you fill. Thanks
  6. Just for the record, do you have a price list for porting a range of saws? In addition, how do you price up rebuilds as we have a few saws here that need just that, including a MS200, a 346xp and a 357xp? Thanks
  7. Water resistant EVA is what you need - Unibond make it. good luck.
  8. They have the CS-280TES for 320e -so your in luck !
  9. Hey Jon This is where we buy Buck & Hickman Search: HONEYWELL NORTHFLEX OIL GRIP GLOVE 9 Plymouth branch. R
  10. This is of course sound advice if you are comfortable (to cut a very long story short) with the effects on environment / uk economy. The only other business model to make a decent return is to invest > 50K like many of us on the forum and have all the correct kit to have a medium scale setup. You will never, ever make a credible return in Firewood with a splitter as you have to handle timber. Sorry to be blunt but you would be better off labouring for £10 - 12 /hr with no overheads and a quiet life.
  11. I am interested to hear others views on SRT, as clearly the Spiderjack 3 was not designed with SRT climbing in mind?
  12. I am sure you will have watched the video, however here is a link: [ame] [/ame] Those who have used ART products previously, will know of their faultless build quality. You can rest assured there will be no stress cracks appearing like the ZZ. That locking mechanism is genius. As with all mechanical rope access hardware, rope choice is paramount. The price tag will pale into insignificance when you have invested in a Spiderjack 3 !
  13. Perhaps all us road users who drive every day should have a refresher driving course every 5 years:001_rolleyes:
  14. If you ask an 'owner driver' they will tell you it's a fairer system of measurement, as Soft that has been roadside for several months will give them far less tonnage on a full load than say Hard felled in June. If they sold Soft by Tonnage they would get significantly less per drop. They need to earn a living and this helps them to do that.
  15. OOps - 45 M3 that should read - Apologies. At least someone is paying attention !
  16. Why do you want to know that figure Bob? Perhaps you want to know what a load will cost you. You will pay tonnage for Hard and meterage for Soft (generally). 25 Tonne of Hard will give you 45 Tonnes average if split to 10" (250mm). Does this help?
  17. No major issues whatsoever - take your time and practice on some old chain de-riveting and spinning new ones, before moving onto the real thing. The cost of a few rivets is minimal
  18. I recall Adam Bourne has been using a Pinto for quite some time - perhaps that says it all
  19. Consultancy is similar to Contracting - 5 years experience and you start to become usefull to someone.
  20. I am wondering if it may be at the AA Trade Fair that we 1st get to see one real time
  21. More food for thought - the advantages are huge -higher temperature daily cycle equating to drying time reduction, less re-fueling intervals and larger door opening for mechanised loading. I am wondering why some are adding a 2nd boiler instead of upgrading to 1 500kWh boiler linked to a modular system of containers, with the exhaust vents progressively feeding to longer cycle containers.
