  1. Looks like there is a detent mechanism in the rod to the red bar too. Strip that and look for wear as the detent springs/balls may be rusty/worn too. They should be pence from your local Timberwolf dealer too.
  2. I got the Ranger as a GreenMech tow tug. Something in the order of 60k in the first year. No problems to report. Between 17 and 30 mpg, quite a lot of Adblue, especially after hard runs from the Midlands to the Highlands with close on max towing capacity! First set of treads lasted 40 and fitted BFG now, so that will more than double! Comfortable, well equipped and does what we want. Local Ford dealer is good but have had some truly bizarre episodes in other spots with previous 2.2 lemon.
  3. Fair play for them to consider the engineering involved but it is a tad fussy trying to convert a road tow to off road. Everything has a place in the market and good look to these entrepreneurial engineers!
  4. Got to ask, why would you go to the expense of this on most chippers when there are enough used ones available and every supplier/manufacturer would supply a new one?
  5. There are a couple of very informative threads on this already, try Search for "Gloria, the Wee Chipper", and the "Wee Chipper Club". These such devices have added a whole new level of work and capability to many firms. Indeed, some people have become specialist people in tree work having started with a GreenMech or JeauBeau.
  6. Two knowledgeable people on the case!
  7. Sorry for your loss, I think many of us are reaching that age where family and friends succumb with increasing regularity.
  8. Sometimes, a refurbishment isn’t the best use of your funds. If it looks tatty but chips well, then leave it alone as spending a chunk of money doesn’t magically improve its value to anyone but you. If it needs mechanical refurbishment then weigh up the cost against putting that money into a new unit and have warranty etc.
  9. Is it this right tough stuff that is dull with a splattered finish?
  10. Can you enlarge on this please?

    Tw 230

Talk to your Timberwolf dealer and they will consult TW for a plan going forward.
  12. Wise words. So often repeated too. Enjoying your break? Get back to doing nowt to do with work!
  13. Beaver are very experienced too, and used to supply pretty well all the dealers but ditched that policy when Jensen decided to be with Whites. Redwood built up their own knowledge and suppliers as they experienced a knowledge and helpfulness gap from Germany.
  14. I wouldn't be surprised if this engine is no longer available and that you'll struggle to get one. Probably better to weigh it in and put your money in to something more obtainable and convert it to petrol vee twin?
  15. Does Graham buy his parts from TH WHITE?
  16. Are they allowed to keep it though? For a small consideration and royalty from the film rights! Plus full name in credits!
  17. I have heard of Forst ignition barrel myther in the past. Don't know what type of barrel it is. Can you turn the rotor by hand?
  18. In the early days of me meeting the current missus, I told her that I suffered with priapism, she went and asked her Mum what this condition was! How I laughed when I first met her mum and Dad and understood the quizzical look from her mum and smirk from her Dad!
  19. Twenty years ago, I left a Bedford MK 4X4 with a mate for a load of work. I went off to work at GreenMech and it is still there. It did start and drive some fifteen years back when they parked it out of the way across the yard. That is still there according to Google earth! Anyone fancy trying to start it is welcome to make a film while they do!
  20. List price of the 18hp is £4,730 plus vat.
  21. Well done Ash, was just setting about putting a post up about the new CS80!
  22. Many wished life was as easy and simple as that. I get where you are coming from but.....you don't grow back from an injury with this kit!
  23. Always surprised that on these types/uses of shaft, that there isn't a couple of grease nipples to be able to lather them up along shaft length!?! There is a hell of a lot of torsional drag when raising or lowering the tool with power on, that 'twist' really does put pressure of the tubes as well as the spiders but it ain't easy to lubricate the inner and outer surfaces.
  24. Oh Blimey! I would check that the controls satisfy the H and S E regs before you spend any more on it. I'm not sure it does! Kilworth machinery are the current importers and may be able to help.
  25. Up here for a few days with the Black Isle Show and amazed and saddened to see the change over the last few years with the march of DED. I got used to seeing small patches of sapling type trees with DED in The Midlands and North England, but up here, there are some tidy sticks that have it. I had the pleasure some 30 years ago of telling the last big tree in the Parish of Sutton Bonington, the last of 97 huge trees, that my family had out. So seeing some big sticks is sort of reminiscent of the 60's, 70's and early 80's in other parts and will not have been experienced by many tree people today, certainly, many mills will not have had round timber like it! In fact, the number of mills has declined as round timber is not as available any more in the same quantity or cost.
