  1. When you look at what genuine AVO cars fetch, I could indeed weep. Sold it in 1983 for £800 with a smashed drivers side front wing. Kept the bent RS badge as a momento. I still wonder if it still exists.
  2. "where do cd's sneak off two"? with two ex-wifes? I know where a lot of records and discs went!!!
  3. "You put your left leg in, left leg out, in, out, in, out and shake it all about"!
  4. Clamp up the bearing bolts and turn rotor over with blades attached. As long as all knives pass the anvil by roughly then same amount then that will do. We set ours up using an adjustable bearing carrier with a gap of about two mm twixt knief and anvil. Oh and don't forget to secure the bearing to the shaft overwise you'll hear a very expensive noise! Good Luck.

Must be three plus seats, all PMs answered.
  6. Talk to Redwood, they should be able to diagnose over the phone. If you can turn the motor by hand, it's more likely to be the either pump or motor. The blow off (PR) valve and solenoid valve are part of the hydraulic valve assembly on the right hand side of the infeed chute, but if either fail it is unlikely to have the same symptoms you seem to be experiencing. Good luck.

    What a pilot!

I heard on th Radio 4 news that he gave the shirt off his back to a passenger that was cold! Top man...............

    What a pilot!

A good pilot is one who has the same number of landings as take offs and every landing is a controlled crash! My Dad crash landed a Canberra in Luqa airport in Malta in the mid 60's and said later that your so busy you don't get time to worry about bowel voiding, but the "rush" you get when climbing out will last until the 12th beer! Well done that pilot and staff....
  10. Every cloud..... Very best of luck and sorry to hear it for the rest of you that are facing uncertain times. Positive attitude wins alround.
  11. I'm not sure what the pressure should be, but many chippers experience blow off fatigue over a period of time. Get an accurate gauge and re-set to manufacturers spec, if that fails - their may be an issue with the roller and the wrap that surrounds it. I doubt it would be the keyway, they tend to either work or fail. With the engine off, lean into the infeed chute and see if you can turn the roller much. A little is acceptable, too much could mean keyway trouble, which is different to a hydraulic issue. Good luck.
  12. A Japanese company (Toyota) and and American company (Ford) decided to have a canoe race on the Missouri River. Both teams praticed long and hard to reach their peak performance before the race. On the day the Japanese won by a mile. The Americans, being very discouraged and depressed, decided to investigate the crushing defeat. A management team made up of senior management was formed to investigate and recommend appropriate action. Their conclusion was that the Japanese had 8 people rowing and one steering whilst the Americans had 8 steering and 1 person rowing. Feeling a deeper study was in order the American management hired a consulting company and paid them a large amount of money for a second opinion. They advised of course, that too many where steering and not enough rowing. Not sure on how to utilise this information the Americans decided that in order to beat the Japanese they would crew thus, 4 steering supervisors, 3 area steering superintendents and 1 steering assistant superintendent manager. They also implemented a new performance system that would give the rower a greater incentive to pull harder. It was called the "Rowing Team Quality First Program". with meetings, dinners and free pens for the rower. There was discussions on new paddles, canoes and other equipment, extra holidays for practice time and bonuses. The next year the Japanese won by two miles. Humiliated, the American management laid off the rower for poor performance, halted developement of the new canoe, sold the paddles and canceled all capital investment for new facilities. The money saved was distributed to the senior executives as bonuses and the next years team was out-sourced to India. Sadly, The End... But.............. think on this. Ford has spent 30 years moving its factories out of the US, claiming they can't make money paying American wages. Toyota has spent 30 years building a dozen plants in the states. Toyota made 4 billion dollars, Ford lost 9 billion dollars. If this wasn't true, it might be funny. Other examples being Rover, LandRover, Jaguar, TVR, Vauxhall etc.
  13. That's better, a bit more arse off seat and a lower elbow please. Cheers
  14. Similar thing to a couple of my guys in a new Transit, indicating right, car coming toward witnessed them start the turn and a little old dear in a Corsa appear from nowhere and took the cab behind the door and pushed the lot into the ditch! Drivers behind stated she went off like she had a deathwish even though the rear lights where working. The Transit was re-cabbed and apart from shock and a little concussion all came out okay.
  15. "It's not bollocks - it's Arbtalk" Arbtalk - more winners than posers.
  16. What a hoot, thanks and congrats to those who made the effort. Job done well. Cheers
  17. I honestly think that receiving/buying is even more of crime than the theft itself. Society is wrong in accepting this type of thing as acceptable providing a small punishment is dished out. SEQUESTRATE THEIR ASSETS THEN CUT THEIR HANDS OFF AND REFUSE ALL STATE AID AND BENEFIT - MAKE THEIR RELATIVES PAY FOR THEM TO EAT, DRINK AND HOUSE THEM.

    Ouch!

I took the photo in my local Tesco garage and the staff and myself have a titter about it every time I goe in. I sent it as an email to various people in the States, Hong Kong, etc etc. Then the sign dissappered, apparantly all shops and garages had been asked to check their equipment and replace the signs where required - the email had ended up at Tesco HQ!

  22. I can remember Jim Wilkie trying to get me to buy one in the late80's-early 90's. He was trying to convince me that it was better than a roller fed machine. When I was asked to take one in partex some years ago, I sold it for 250 quid for the engine. But you cannot deny that they chipped.
