  1. Well, there she goes! The old bus did 186k miles and has been replaced! We had a few issues along the way and those were mainly dealership issues. New engine at 100k, new DPF shortly after, new intercooler just lately too. Anyone want to make a bid? Her sister is up too with 146k? Any bids or offers?
  2. From memory, and there are better qualified people to advise you, to get a PTS ticket, you need to be employed or at least, sponsored, by a Network Rail approved contractor. Like Stevie says, QTS are a big outfit with a depot in Nottingham, Cirencester, as well as various other places. The testing for drugs and alcohol can be done anywhere but by an approved company and there are a few NR depots around Birmingham, has to put you forward. Are you looking to make yourself available to the rail contractors as a cutter?
  3. Tell you what Stu, those bamboo darts do right well in an auger fed biomass Plant! I did some willow sticks for a chap in the Welsh Borders thinking it was a waste of time. These came out like darts but they went through the the auger, much to my amazement! I ate a big bowel of Umble Pie, apologised for being a doubter, and left the machine with him!
  4. With sharp blades and well adjusted, chip quality is usually quite good on a CS100.
  5. This was on a Hire Fleet in France. I'm told that it was in an RTA.
  6. What a thing to confess to!!! Even if I felt the need to unload, the last thing I'd want the world to know about would be something of this nature. In such poor taste.....
  7. Got a Swiss army knife from the late 80's and a Leatherman from the mid 90's and both well worth their weight over the years! Get one of each!
  8. I had a 1 with the TD4 and it spent most of its life towing and would have another! The 2nd gen are more refined but the fit n finish on the 1st gen was good too! My only criticism was that first gear and reverse could feel a little high and main dealer servicing was ruinous! But there are enough specialist people to take up that role. I tried to tempt the missus into getting one recently as a dog bus and will try again thinking about it!
  9. It is a good spot! The food in the services on Shap are good too, but the whole deal at Gloucester is relaxing, calming and inviting, as a rest area should. To be honest, and I've driven the length and breast of the country, they are the best! While the remainder are, by and large, awful!
  10. I certainly enjoyed meeting you all and GreenMech are grateful for your comments. Thanks for coming and making it worthwhile! Best wishes to you all! Welcome to the forum Dan!
  11. Was he looking for trolley pound coins?
  12. Good luck on this! All conversions end up as a labour of love. How much do you think it will carry? How easy was getting an O licence?
  13. Is the ignition actually switching everything off at the key? Sounds like you are producing enough while running anyhow, I'll give Jase a nudge to see what Intel he can give you!
  14. John, good comment on Scotch blocks. Should be banned as a lazy, temp solution! Only useful to get you home!
  15. Check battery earth and engine earth strap too. I wonder if the charge unit is breaking down and your battery is gradually being drained. Put a Meyer across the terminals when running and see how much it is producing?
  16. Saw this on AgriAffaires when looking for something else. Someone needed to get across some boggy ground I think.
  17. I got one day full, another full day being discussed, one day for Lantra people and next week is currently around the 16 mark. But, as per usual, about 3 dozen have said they'll come but haven't fully confirmed!
  18. Okay Folks, the cut off point for Arbtalker people to book a place on the next factory tour is this Friday at 19:30 before I hit the Gin! Several people are staying locally and I'm told that fresh straw in the stable with morning nose bag will be mid 50 sobs. Others are travelling and some will no doubt ring on Tuesday night! But, please do email me if you really want a spot! peter@greenmech. co. uk
  19. For those who think that we are too far away, I have already booked a couple of people into the Hotel at the end of the drive at the GreenMech preferential rate.
  20. Original thought came from taking the wheels off the Wench's Mini, wondered how she would manage. Thought about getting one to leave in the garage for when I'm fettling, so more domestic use than serious things like truck wheels etc. I could go Air, as there is a compressor int'garage!
  21. Thinking of getting one and wondered what the advice is? What voltage, make etc
  22. New pocket is a good idea, change bearings and shear bars whilst it is out too. GreenMech do offer this service of rotor rebuilds etc. Take it to Hamilton Bros at Bishopton and they'll get down to us. Damage may have been from impact with something hard in the past or loose blade.
  23. Andy Hall will be, he is a Judge!
  24. Someone is getting a red SafeTrac!
