    560xp problem

Still plenty of time on that one , need to check the plug colour.. still think it’s running lean.

    560xp problem

I only give you the dirty ones Steve.
  3. The metal strip that sits in the plastic casing at the top has a habit of coming out or the plastic lip breaks off , if it has not broken off pry it back in with a combi spanner is usually the easiest way of getting them spot on again.. you have to really look as it’s only a case of barely a few mm.
  4. Older machines had faster rollers but not as much grip on the rollers as the newer ones , also stronger chassis but that may be irrelevant if it’s got tin worm any way... rollers easily changeable though ... We have had 4 stolen over the years amongst all the others I’ve heard of going missing there will be ones that can’t get moved as easily... hence cheaper so check them over thorough. I think they say 400 hours for bearings but I’ve seen them with well over a thousand if looked after and blades changed regularly, check the fins on the fly wheel as they easy get damaged and throw the bearing out.
  5. Think there was some advertisement for courses up near Penrith , plenty of b&bs up that way!
  6. Igland make great winches ,should be around 5T pull but I would be very careful about buying any second hand winch.. I would try and have a play with it first , clutch could be knackered.. on igland web site it says there 5t winch is rated for tractors up to 90bhp ... have never ran a small winch on a bigger tractor so have no idea what would happen ,possibly burn the clutch out??
  7. Does not seem to be any hi viz ones in stock any where.... apart from one full price I saw on eBay.
  8. I know you don’t want to hear it but try and climb SRT fully.. I was starting to think my career was over a few years back with tennis elbow, tendons sticking out my hands, knacked wrists and shot shoulders !! but the haas and ct foot ascender has given me years more back in the game and not only that it keeps you fresher to work longer so much more so than pulling your body with your hands and arms about all day.. the transition was hard and I still have quite a bit of pain in my joints and pins and needles but nothing like near what it was .. it used to keep me awake .. another thing is to be careful what saws you use , it’s amazing how crap anti vibes mess up your joints.. it’s hard but put the 200 t or ms460 down and pick up a new spring mounted modern saw..but you should feel the difference after a few months if your grip is being effected as well.

    IVY

I remember being told that there.. one of the first trees I did after back in the real world was a Scots pine that had one of the worse ivy infestations I’ve ever seen literally 3” deep spiral indented in to the cambium going up for the last 10 ft of crown after been strangled to death by ivy ... I was going to cut a section out and send it to the Arb department.
  10. So the haas loop works and is satisfactory old mill?
  11. I watched this tit yesterday in a vw van try and get up a Hill with a blind summit , his mrs was pushing him but the van going side ways in to the on coming traffic stupidly I thought the best thing to do was help push on top of the summit as I could not watch .. a huge 8wheeled feed lorry came over the other side side of the summit and this dude was in his lane with us two pushing I grabbed her thinking we where all gonna die in every direction with no where to run ! ... I’m still not sure how we didn’t get hit by the lorry !.. any way he said is there many more hills ?? This was the A68 going in to Scotland..!!that was just one example of incredibly stupid driving I saw yesterday and every time it snows it’s the same ... I heard the road was shut later due to a major accident...but I think in Scotland and northern England it should definitely be mandatory to have snow tyres, watching shit like yesterday and seeing people risk them selfs and others for the sake of a set of tyres it’s not worth it.
  12. That’s all mine is a festive project that I can burn out milling ... crank seal done , saw seems fine not entirely sure if seated the fly wheel side seal deep enough but saw starts first pull idles and revs it’s tits off ... chain brake is shocking... anti vibes feel worse than a genuine stihl ... although I’m fully aware this series of saws when in production where terrible any way, this just seems worse! Overall feels cheap n nasty but all bearings and seals rings are genuine stihl so hopefully will take the abuse of milling.
  13. I’d rather have a decent climber on the rigging device anyway if it was a complicated operation or a compromised tree as they can read what your doing better , know the loads and what the result of taking lumps off so will let it run or wind it up when needed..it should be common sense but I can think of only one non climbing groundy I would have and trust 100% as opposed to most skilled climbers with experience that I would trust... good climbers make good groundies as they actually look and understand what your doing better in most circumstances .. although helmet coms can make a huge difference, it gets tiresome explaining your every move and wether or not it actually sinks in as I think personally as soon as you stop instructing some people will stop thinking.
  14. Spent all in 3.2k on this with the wheels and uprated suspension, 90k miles and I know what I would rather drive..problem is now even a shit defender that is rotten with high miles and been ran in to the ground is going to start at 3k
  15. Another thing to think about is they are highly steal able I’ve heard of at least one a week disappearing around here... make sure your not buying a ringer and your investment has some good security/cut off switches and the like along with pedal clamps!
  16. If you can ,try and get too drive a 130 loaded up towing a chipper... and then have a think about if you can live with that .... a transit in comparison is pure luxury .. if you do get a Landy get as new as possible or one with a galv chassis that’s had every bit of suspension and brake replaced or uprated... there are plenty of dogs out there so be careful. We run one Landy it’s newish but the brakes are awful , it wallows is noisy and even if you fix all though the cab is cramped no getting away from it.. I would rather take one of our l200’s.
  17. Taking a lot off the top ....That’s completely different from trimming a hedge or reducing one by a few feet the customer wants lowering.
  18. I have only heard mine come in once and that was working it hard building a track with the machine going none stop for hours.
  19. That tuefulberger Xstatic looks good... might replace the horrible static rope I brought recently that’s so bad I’ve forgotten it’s name ! Like climbing on cheese wire , never had a rope milk as bad either!
  20. The cladding off the small drying shed was left overs that where not quite right for the bigger shed and off cuts, the bigger cladding was two short larch logs and the shingles bent and short lumps of thuja that was good for nothing else but logs , if you have the space you can store anything I guess but it’s good to have a clear out of hoarded stuff and use it other than burn it!
  21. In doing a conifer hedge like the one in the picture though .. seriously do you need an anchor ?? I have done miles of tall hedges with nothing more than a side strop and maybe a short climbing line for bridging large gaps but there is no way I’m hauling 30m of rope through a hedge, it’s not like there is nothing to grab if you fall ! Use a mewp quite a lot for other Tree work but you can move a lot faster and cover a lot of ground quicker with a topper and double sided hedge cutters and leave a nicer job easily with out one .. if you ever fall in a conifer hedge all you have to do is spread your arms and legs before you get hung up!! Obviously large single conifers or rows of untouched ones being made in to a hedge are the exception but hedges like that?
