  1. That’s it Mark , quick n easy.... another thing is if your learning SRT I felt it put the ropes I felt in more in line with a position more familiar to ddrt whilst your getting to grips with the system, Chester is on my shopping list next time I’m in gustharts now though for those all day trees I think it could be better and safer.
  2. One thing I think the Chester has in its advantage, is you can clip in the haas higher and get more progress than off the hitch climber .. not that it is an issue for me any way as it seems you can still get a decent stride off the hitch climber.
  3. Aye but you unclip it most of the time anyway so it’s still 50/50 I’m not giving it up until I’m forced.. I think it works sweet .. every time I try and put a Chester on its like doing a Rubics cube and I really hated the slings around your shoulder thing .. some times I will just hoy my lanyard over my shoulder off the back of the harness to the hitchcilmber if I’ve left my tether in the bag and I just need to get on.
  4. Why??? I’ve been using one for a few years now and solely using SRT for work so that’s a lot of hours with no incidents at all , I really don’t like putting a chest harness on and find it restricting and it just does not work with my climbing style I’ve adapted too , if I really had to use a chest ascender I would still fit an XRSE with elastic on in the top run I guess. .. I imagine that is probs what will happen as the health and safety police seem to have condemned them and the pinto retrievable anchor .. both of which I use every climb just because it’s easy minimalist and less hassle.
  5. They look good.
  6. I’ve had a Harkie one on mine for two years now and it’s not fallen off, but then the harness is a TM and it is designed to carry one ,previously used the stein ones and they didn’t seem to stay on long even with the TM first aid webbing.

    Tiny echo!

Definitely, I keep praying our oldest 150 dies so it can be replaced with a tiny echo ... local echo dealer quoted me £397 for the quarter Pitch all in for today... would definitely get the 1/4 pitch in as the sprocket was quite dear on the last one I converted... then all you have to do is fit the stihl bar.
  8. I’ve found the 540 one of the best top handles for anti vibes ... unless I’ve filled the rakers down too much ! Have you checked over the springs to see if they have broken ? I can’t see the grip being the problem unless a spring has snapped or is seriously bent.

    Tiny echo!

Think sticking dogs on will not be no good for pruning and tear up your trousers clipped up.
  10. What are you going to be doing with it ?? The hobbs is simple and great for pretensioning lines rigging big and you can dump big loads no worries on it it will lift but nothing like the grcs winch although it will lift it takes time if you try. I can live with my Hobbs type block though.
  11. Petzl Alvio , lightest and most vented.
  12. I’ve already started Kevin ... the news today was pretty disturbing with Russia saying it will take out any American base missiles are launched from ... interesting the way we are being fed story’s from Syria though , which ones the truth ? https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5386503/amp/More-640-Russian-mercenary-soldiers-killed-Syria.html https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.spiegel.de/international/world/american-fury-the-truth-about-the-russian-deaths-in-syria-a-1196074-amp.html Genocides in history though Hitler is 3rd after stallin and in first place Mao Zedong ... not saying he wasn’t a massive (unt but the out come of Europe would of been even more horrific if Hitler never invaded Russia and the war machine stallin was building to take the world to communism never of been exhausted fighting the Nazis with the slaughter of 11 million of its troops being left pretty impotent against further battle and giving us 50 years of Cold War stale mate.
  13. You do realise the northern hemisphere ... no probably the world will be an apocalyptic nuclear waste land after ?
  14. I’ve got one but unsure of the size ... think it could be the 2.5 m as I’m sure I’ve come across a few trees it’s been too small on.. either way a bowline is still does the job if not.
  15. Battery’s go pop too dude , and that’s with out smoking tabs ... like I said earlier I’ve never seen any saw explode ... there was a time I heard of a lad who I showed a trick too that if you emptied a tiny bit of fuel out your saw tank on some dead pine needles and fanned with the exhaust it would get a bonfire going real quick with out a blower and litres of diesel.. unfortunately his saw went up when he put the exhaust up close after dumping half a tank on some scotty needles, I guess petrol vapour on a naked flame ... I’ve fuelled up daily with a tab going as break is a tab and refuel and get cracking again and never ended engulfed in a ball of flames , not saying it’s a bright thing to do ...but there it is.
  16. Here’s an interesting one it says stihl but that’s definitely a husky 550 right ?
  17. I’ve smoked and worked with smokers and around saws most my life and I’ve never seen any one explode! I regret the shit tattoo I had done at 18 though , think I’m gonna cover it up maybe with a full sleeve with this modern ink , it does look mint these days what they can do with a needle and the crispness in detail achieved.

    Clean cutting

My guess is uneven sharpening, I’ve seen my ripping chains do this milling if I clear more out of the gullet on one side than the other.

    50 cc saw

Thats what I’ve found with the 550’s , ok if you have your own designated saw but if they get past around they run like shit until they have adjusted after a few mins of the operators style of cutting.. they like being used hard too, so no good for the timid saw user who won’t keep revs up. Would not mind trying the echo 50cc but cant give up my 550xpg it’s a keeper.... was never a fan of the 346xp though, just found it too flat.
  20. Very true ! That’s why I won’t go lighter than 14oz.. and double up bags if manipulating a route.
  21. I’d be more worried what it drives like!
  22. Sweet , sounds a better deal !
  23. Did you get the one with the winch and bits on bill?? I got an advisory last mot over front wheels and that was without spacers and already moving the rear arches.. neither prop shafts or wheel bearings seem to like chunky tyres though.
  24. We recently got a tri to replace a twin wheeled trailer but ended up keeping the twin as well as the tri is so wide we can’t get it over a local bridge !
  25. Sharpen a saw when it’s blunt... unless it’s the last cut off the stump and it’s been a long day and it can wait until tomorrow.
