When I was in my early twenty’s and bored of tree work , we used to do a lot of council work in old people’s homes , one old fella who was always out side digging over flower beds or cutting hedges , just doing his own thing away from the other old folk sitting in the tv room,I would always have a chat with , he seemed very stable and not hysterical when dealing with trees ...he had briefly mentioned some thing about the desert rats and North Africa... any ways a few months later I was back on the site clearing some ivy blown tree and I stop to have are usual chat about trees and stuff and I tell him about an interview with the tank corps as I’m thinking about joining .... he looks at me , starts crying and tells me not to do it nothing for him will ever get rid of the memories of seeing young men, his friends in Bren carriers being cut to pieces by machine guns in El Alamein pass or blown to to bits in hedge rows.. i realises then why this guy was always out side by himself and keeping himself busy as he was being constantly haunted ..it did start quite a morbid obsession for me to find out more about what the dude had seen but put me off joining the military.

No mate , seemed well tedious! ... they are good apart from the top corner when I had to mill some fresh ones and there’s some gaps now but will put a carpet in that room and sheep’s wool in the gaps!

Pretty valid point! I never liked it on the rope wrench , would not tend slack and was hard to pull through... wish I’d tried it on its own after seeing that test.

560 out performs the 357 by quite a bit and you will be a rack ahead at the end of the day.

I think grey git on here tows a big bandit with his... aye they are alright but they are limited to 50mph any way and it’s easy to forget they have 6 gears as they top out quick. I think they weigh over 3 tonne with the picker on so it’s probably a good thing they are limited.

So you can now get smashed in the eye with a metal magnet pinging off the elastic .. I think you have as much chance of hanging off your t shirt collar than a neck tether from using one constantly for 3 years now..

I recon it will finish it ... doesn’t look like it will come out on leaf next year as it is !

Get the 14m version if your considering one ... any thing less it would struggle to be useful. They can half job time or used badly can add time on.. if your doing a lot of trees in public spaces and next to roads or estates Feild’s I would consider one unless of you do mostly domestic Arb in towns they would be hopeless.

Fleet business insurance is the way forward ... not a lot for 3- 4 trucks and definitely brings the premium down than individual vehicles.

Distils come with Velcro type sheaths, dunno if they can be brought as an extra though.

Think your pretty limited on the winch front .. I think only uniforest make winches that fit the linkage out the box, we have a 2 tonne igland on ours and we had to mod the linkage tofit ... good thing about the little winch is one person can take it off move it for storage , does the job and anything bigger the 8tonne tajfun comes out.

Aye but it’s pretty standard and all saw shops should have them in stock and for pennies for a new rim , it’s basic maintenance, you don’t have to buy a new clutch drum to replace a sprocket.

Rim =sprocket ...it is the sprocket??? Commonly known as a rim sprocket.

Why would you have to modify either they are working saws ? I get having them muffler modded and a woods port but that’s as much as I want on a working saw.

1lb and oz is a lot of weight , I would take a 550 over a 560 if the task allows, why not if you can work faster and stay fresher... if I use my 576 felling I will pick up the 560 as soon as I can to delimb a tree.. just makes no sense to me to carry more weight than what’s needed on a job. 70 cc saws are thirsty and fatiguing they are not really some thing I enjoy using but that’s changed since getting a 462.. I know folk who have had the 572 for a while and they still would rather pick up there 560’s.

Fine bill, like any other saw really ..I’ve rebuilt 2 though!

Clipping in your tether can help drop slack through the system on longer come backs, then just pull in arm over arm.. I think it’s quicker than double roping and don’t notice any difference in fatigue really.
