  1. Another thing to remember is with a vt you will get a bit of sit back if tied long ... it looks like the hitch is not gripping but it’s just the knot stretching to stop. As rich said though once you have the habit of dressing the hitch (pushing up) sorted it becomes second nature and you don’t even notice doing it.
  2. Is that rope xtc ?? Try 8mm liros or if you can find any 8 mm armour prus
  3. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F253842651905 Would be my choice.
  4. It was good when I sold it.. most of it was OEM though!
  5. Sold mine , hopefully never see it or the guy again ... to be fair it was not a bad saw but you have too many any way bill!

  7. It’s lower tier for Wöod chip and logs, I had ours checked last Friday and could not use the recycling centre unless it was produced ... is a gardener getting rid of soil ?? Any building waste is regarded as higher.

    Jewellery

One got my hand crushed on a screw splitter broke some fingers but it crushed and split a ring imbedding it in my finger , then it started swelling! Not as bad as degloving but I would never wear one again. I’ve had eye brow ,ear and nose rings pulled out by branches as well so stopped wearing them. Jewellery does not have much place in this job.. be careful of long hair getting caught in hitches as well !
  9. I did find the sweetest line but treestuff stopped selling it! Found the stiff line good but expensive and broke to easily
  10. I’m looking for a braided line with a mono core ... what’s on the market ??

    Tiny echo!

Mines the same , the old one I had last time I did that job with you near Alnwick was the same also ! Seems to get a lot worse when the Tank gets to about 1/4 full... which isn’t long ! Adjusting seems to fix for about 10 minutes.
  12. You get more fatigued using a hand saw than one of those micro toppers that are now available ..I used silkys for years production climbing street trees and in domestic Arb and I just find now they aggravate tennis elbow and repetitive strain injury’s and if you have a lot of cuts even if small you feel fatigued , tbh I think you can be more dangerous with a handsaw than a chainsaw too.
  13. C mon Mick America sat on the fence in WW2 in Europe for the first 3 years of the war until they realised they could make more money feeding the allied war machine .. a lot of American money was invested in Nazi germany. .. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/world/2004/sep/25/usa.secondworldwar That’s just one example !
  14. Made it up a couple of years ago and was going to refine it a bit more but it’s about 30”which I find perfect for a loosely tied long VT or akimbo but l it can be adjusted so will work better on heavier devices like the bulldog bone or hitch hiker and is also open so can be unclipped and removed with out taking your lid off !! , found some of them too small and really didn’t like squeezing them off my head ! Next to a HB own brand in the photo.
  15. 250 -300 quid probs about 5-6 tonne at around £40 a tonne would be my guess.
  16. Bottom hitch Middle haas Top tether Rope wrench use does not feel quite right with out one !
  17. For the price of them dude it’s probably worth buying a couple.. but I probably would not miss them in any way...I still have my topping strops for that matter ! Thing is with the rings it’s more of the hype shite that goes with it that bothers me , X this and that like your gonna be some kind of X games Jeff capes X man super hero ... f&@k off ! stick a few videos of some one dumping half ton loads on them like super hero and you have your self a product it’s like turning a job in to some special event is exactly what this industry does not need.
  18. Do not really get the whole ring thing myself ... it to me seems like doing a time warp back 20 years to when we all used topping strops, to me they offer no advantage what so ever in rigging although I use the safe bloc quite a bit now that is worth investing in... my rigging rings rarely come out to play
  19. Didn’t waste any time bill!
  20. 8 ton botex ? Ours has its own hydraulic tank and runs off the pto.
  21. Would love to know how the curve was traditionally made on these , are they cut this way or steam bent. If cut is there a specific technique that was used??

    Stihl ms241

To be fair I’ve had a few tanks through the 241 and didn’t think it was a bad saw at all... if I wanted a light weight rear handle I would certainly have it on the list
  23. Interesting... I wonder how well it performs, was never a big fan of the ZZ on the wrench, found it too sticky .
  24. Thinking about it again I’ve had the echo flat out and buried bar deep dead wooding some big oaks and removing some sizeable lumps over the last few days , I never felt the urge to ask for the 540 on and I know if I was using the 150 i would of, I had it in the mewp last week for a day after using the 540 and it’s the perfect bucket saw and you don’t get any where near as fatigued cutting and chucking for 3 hungry groundies ! .
  25. Running both and the echo imo is a better saw despite as it nears using up its fuel it has a habit of stalling on the bottom third of the tank ,but I’d still take it over the 150 any day of the week.. the compromise is a 150 bar on the echo ! Definitely recommend doing that if you get the echo.
