  1. Bacho p34-37 in my view the best I've used. You can get an adapter to fit aus poles or use bachos own ... may take a bit of searching on the web and don't get the smaller version !!
  2. Probs should not post this but I'm not surprised it's not got much interest .... I'm not a cabinet maker or owt but I'd rather use any other material than non native endangered trees , native British timber has some appeal I think to folk as they can associate with it, maybe the appeal grows especially if it's been up cycled from dead , fallen or diseased or folk know the history of that particular bit of timber but using African hard woods always felt like hanging up a rhinos head or some thing to me, just does not sit well .... not having a dig or owt but that's it's appeal to me anyways......
  3. Loving the shade mate ! I think I'll go back to a full set... where are you getting the bearings from at that price ???
  4. Strangely though it seems to work and surprisingly well .... I'm in the predicament of getting a new set of yellow jackets and do I get a pocket and a few spares and go back to a full set of teeth ... but it seems to be stupidly fast with less teeth... much courser longer chippings... started on this in the afternoon ... threw a tooth and with the snapped bolt in the pocket so just took the opposing tooth off ....started getting worried that was it I would have to pull the machine out and call it a day as it looked a nightmare and it absolutely smashed it and I thought I would be there all afternoon ! Just worried it's going to kill the bearings very quickly!
  5. A year after changing the teeth to yellow jackets On our Vermeer 252 I've ended up with jus 4 teeth.. I've regularly checked the teeth pockets but still seem to be loosing them but have ended up with this configuration , it actually seems to work better than the Vermeer recommended set up but I'm concerned it could shorten bearing life any views on this subject ?
  6. What about the stupid smirking self important idiot who's reading you your rights when you know there is no roost in that tree? I'm entitled to be pissed off , having my site and job shut down when it's bloody obvious where if any bats that have been detected are and will be.. I've had this happen four times now , it used to be that I enjoyed carving bat holes and making monoliths , coronets etc.... I think after dealing with these folk in the ways that I have and situations of the trees and there risks of failure I really can't be bothered any more..
  7. Got to say on top of that I hate so called bat experts , when working a tree nothing pisses me off more than some dick head turning up and reading me my rights and going on about bats in the tree.... do you really think I'm that stupid to risk getting a 10k fine for disturbing a bat roost ?! Or don't have the experience and knowledge my self to know where and what a active roost may consist of ..... Then having the site closed down to find out hey guess what there where no bats in the tree ... does not matter that the trees a willow that's shit itself over a primary school playground and class rooms , or a beech that's split over a heavily used footpath and ancient monument it's only important so these so called experts who get off on smelling there own farts and and justify there years wasted on a degree and there ridiculous salary's ...you can take your endo scopes and shove them where the Sun don't shine....
  8. I'm against DW pines , cedars unless it's over very high risk targets ... have seen many fail days/weeks after they have been over the years and some quite catastrophic ... wind tunnels as well so areas before not being penetrated and allowing different movement so yes pretty much.
  9. I agree 100% with mick on dead wooding them , the fracture looks about the same age as the previous pruning..if it was my spec job I would reduce that limb taking off most of the upright section... don't remove it ! if you can find a decent Arb to do a light reduction on the rest of the crown at the same time it would not go a miss.
  10. I've got one doing 20 years now and has cut thousand of tons .... just had to have some pipes and pins replaced in its first real major overhaul but like you say "bomb proof"!
  11. AMR are good but posche is in a different league , my big AMR splitter will not last as long as our old spaltaxe I'm pretty sure, bits are already falling off it after a few years...
  12. From memory I don't think you get any sit back from the chicane ... if I could get on with mechanical ascenders after using one of our lads a few times it would be the one set up for SRT I would use but I just prefer hitches !
  13. Another for the posch spalt axe , fast return and bomb proof.
  14. It's a joke mate ... they are taking the piss ...
  15. Mmm looks like it didn't have the power to fell it lower down in the buttress hence his ridiculous stump.....barely looked like it had the power to dress out 3" conifer branches ! I'll give it a miss and stick with my 550's
  16. Would definitely upgrade the springs, you won't be able to work the truck with standards ... air bags would help but I don't use them. Probably why it's one of my most hated vehicles to drive when loaded and towing after reading your above link for them they seem a good idea......
  17. Pretty handy for tearing huge holes in your £300 pfanners too.
  18. We dead wooded some large beech years back , I don't think I was even a climbing back then so over 27 years ago .. any way having our lunch break on the park resting in the shade on the other side one of the beeches we had been working on an hour before collapses right over a children's play area , we ran over to kids and people screaming expecting the worse , luckily some how apart from going through the play area perimeter fence no one was hurt... in the same month another killed some one in another park 10 miles away so the council felled most mature beech in the vicinity of any major public areas .. maybe a bit knee jerk!
  19. Once you have one on a chipper there's no going back , I would not be with out them on ours, got loaded trucks out of bother and what you can do with them pulling trees is a game changer.
  20. Pissing in every ones cornflakes but be careful where you watch the final!! I know 10 who have tested positive so far from one small village who went to a workingmans club in haltwistle to get cheap beer and watch the game on Saturday...
  21. I'd get pete Mc tree on here to have a look for you, just down the road from him.
  22. My mates got one on his , got the winch mount off Timberwolf I think .....
  23. Where in the north east ? Pm me if you want a quote.
