  1. Maybe ... the thing is I like to think that US nato led forces try and have a cleaner war and avoid killing too many civilians , not that it does not happen but putin just orders complete annihilation of targets as shown in Syria , whole towns areas bombed and flattened to oblivion. I would also like to think we try and install a more democratic rule for the better good not that I've agreed with anything we have done either but it's a little closer to home and the worry is this is Sudetenland all over again and one step closer to ww3
  2. https://www.facebook.com/100000202772087/posts/5558959247454113/?d=n Heart breaking pure evil.... any one who thinks starting this to have a buffer zone is fair game needs there head checking , the guys a maniac and we should of nipped it in the bud when we had the chance , there disregard for all life is staggering.... I had a Ukrainian groundy a few years back I could do with 3 of them now but good honest hard working people. Just told him to get the f out and come and stay and bring his family here, he can't wishes he could and is staying but his friends are already dying in the front line today he has heard.
  3. It a close call next to a rope wrench if it's my favourite bit of climbing gear in to which I could not live with, just makes life easy and I would always replace one tomorrow if it got lost.
  4. I've found you very quickly blow the cam spring using it on a single line.
  5. Looks more two series to me , late 80's to 90's , filter looks like somthing off a 266 husky.
  6. You can remove the cam. I usually buy a 7m one of these and cut it in half so I have a spare lanyard and stop knot and seal together after I've threaded the positioner Teufelberger CE Lanyard replacement rope – FR Jones & Son WWW.FRJONESANDSON.CO.UK
  7. https://www.facebook.com/groups/128622575070/permalink/10159608271955071/ Worth a look and probably what you want to hear... I did storm call outs for 15 years for the council, I could usually guarantee a few things they would be poplar or willow , a certain notorious avenue of raywoods ash that must of all been the same clone as every one had the worse unions of any trees I've seen or it was a tree dead or alive and covered in ivy.
  8. My schliesing 235 had a front and rear demountable winch out the factory , I've just fitted it with a heavier duty rear mounted version instead. I'm actually regretting not going hydraulic though!
  9. I think as nat made the comment on social media , the scale of damage here wasn't shown on any main stream news , people didn't have power for weeks in parts of Northumberland ... if it had been any other part of England there would of been outcry, the prime minister didn't even declare in a national emergency ffs.
  10. I don't think I've heard of any thing more pointless ... cut it at the bottom and it will be back up the tree in 3 years anyway.
  11. Last time we threatened to shoot some ones dog is because her pack of animals ripped apart 12 ewes and lambs ... lazy fat cow would open her van door let them run off in the forest to do there own thing rather than keep them on a lead , the usual thing usually involved killing anything in there path including other dogs and then wondered why all the locals hated her. To this day if I see some one walk through the footpath in front of the house with out there dog on a lead it really bothers me though .
  12. On another note Andy and de railing the subject ..... How do you find that model esse ?? Are you using it for cooking and heating or is it more of a show thing ? I'm tempted to get one over this model that's in the main house that does all the cooking.
  13. Last bit of Douglas milling for my self build .. seems a shame to cover it on plaster board!
  14. Even if it was all walnut after looking at the pictures of all the wire stapled to every thing I seriously doubt any saw mill would touch it, they don't like garden trees for this reason.. I would not even touch it for fire wood this reason either.
  15. I know where some go , dealerships have staff with drug problems who work in cooperation with traveler gangs who are also responsible for distribution for large amounts of badly cut coke and a number of other shit drugs and most of the plant thefts and small armed robbery's across the UK. I was offered jensons nearly new for 3k and they would get serviced once a year for £300 by a mechanic who I presumed worked and pointed out there locations and specs to the gangs from the dealership. I knew two crews in north herts and Bedfordshire who ran these jensons, can imagine it's the same across the country. To be honest that's why I would not post any equipment on this forum as I would not trust half the people in this industry.
  16. Don't do it if your off grid, from experience.... too much energy to utilise the pumps and fans 24/7 on a biomass boiler through winter.
  17. I find it interesting that many seasoned arbs still have the thinking that ivy does not damage trees.... I came out of Merrist wood back in the mid 90's having been taught this and one of the first jobs I did was deal with a load of ivy covered trees that you could see had been strangled by ivy and where dead. They had like a 4" indentations around the stems until if obviously stopped the cambium functioning, I felt like boxing some sections up and sending them back to the college and saying ivy does not damage trees then??? As a point I remove it on trees in high risk areas just to aid inspection.

    Regional styles.

Why is the Northumberland style haphazard ? It is very hard to find any info on it on the internet of books ,but to be honest I don't mind doing it if your getting paid by the meter as it is a lot easier. Personally I would stick to the regional style for the reasons it's easier and the tradition of the area , it's like seeeing French roofs on Northumbrian buildings !
  19. https://melit.ee/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/ch_260_eng_v2.pdf Another with pictures... Are you still running a 160 Mike ? I haven't used a farmi for about 15 years but seem to remember the pto speed being relatively low , maybe it was on 1000rpm ?
  20. They look good rich but chainsaw protection would definitely be a requirement, the Kayos seem to be the only ones.
  21. Not unless your using it in a forest or woodland ....any way only for forestry would be my guess on reading the latest red diesel regs.
  22. First pair of arbortecs I brought I got a refund after 3 days , hence the question mate. As tom says they look good for climbing , I've been wearing big fell hunters after ankle injuries for support but they seem ok now and recently switched back to an old pair of Andrew's about 6 months back and my ankles feel a lot better for climbing in the Andrew's , maybe not on spikes and trekking through swamp wood land.
  23. Any feedback on them from users ??
  24. I would say there was a lot of difference in cutting speed, waste , and longevity , I can cut a years worth and more on one blade usually.. how often would you have to sharpen a chain, change a bar ? And then there is oil consumption. On a good day I can get two dumpy bags of dust off a Pocshe 360 and would hate to think what that would equate to with a saw cross cutting plus there is a lot less of a market for contaminated saw dust.
