  1. Chuck it ...ahem I mean place in in sequence in to each corner of the cube in the same direction although I just fling it in and rarely have tangles. I have found the dynema with a fishing line core stuff gives the least tangles but I find two things that do are the throw bags coming out of pockets or generally the cube being thrown around folded does not help.
  2. John ,I took the front plate off and belted it with a copper mallet, took some force to get it move! .. I don't see why your puller/pusher should not work though.

    Sharpening

Yep never sharpen with a vice and use this method , fast n easy.
  4. Yeah it's a proper 11 , did a couple of trees on mine and it needs milking , ben said his did the same ...seems alright though definitely not bouncy like Yale kern and stiffer. I don't think any one will have it on there web sites yet but should have it in stock , rich has a good source for it I believe.
  5. Cool , I'll keep an eye out for it Carl.
  6. Picked some up from gustharts the other week.👍🏻
  7. I would say gunk or Debris mate. It grabs the rope with out fail, can't fault it for that ! I was trying extra short cord on the wrench and hated it before I went on the akimbo but been in the woods for the last week so it's hard to make any new comparisons.
  8. Was thinking the same about the handle , I can get it to tend well on cougar but it's a mare to release ! I think the more the cams are open the harder it bites and makes releasing difficult and when it does its fast !maybe why the thinner ropes seem to work better? If you try it on its widest setting on a thin rope it still grabs it. Still prefer it to any other mechanical I've tried though.
  9. Have a few rings would rather use pulleys personally so you can balance big limbs and crank them around on the lowering device or pretension to avoid shock loading, rarely use the rings, they run nice and smooth but seem a throw back to topping strop days.
  10. The new spider jack has a built in brake and a few other safety features so would of cost a lot more developing but I'm sure was predominantly built for the anal German market as in Germany it always has been the case that you can't climb on anything that's not CE marked and as you can't CE mark your hitch a lot of companies force there workers to use zig zags and spider jacks ect anyway... haha no worries mate.
  11. Do as Mick or tree quip say or reduce them 15/25% and shape to balance to keep the wind sail minimal on the old topping cuts this pruning kept within the BS guidelines the regrowth will be less vigorous.
  12. Pure speculation on my cynical behalf ... I'm only again speculating that ART , treeimagineers, tuefelberger , petzl and DMM the big players in the arb climbing industry have no SRT products and have no plans as far as I'm aware on offering any either, ... just makes sense to me that the kind of climbers who would of used products like the spider jack mostly have switched from dirt rope technique to SRT so its killed the market for a lot of there devices and tools... I'm just guessing you would do something about it if you could?
  13. I'm no fan but the alternative... Clinton where do you begin ! You won't hear a bad word on her as the media is owned by her backers.
  14. On the cougars it seemed fine fully open on top and one on the bottom. Didn't enjoy the Stirling but it needs braking in a more an milking.
  15. Uhhm I wonder who pushed for this ? Maybe seeing as the sales of the new spider jack have been so pathetic...
  16. That's what I was thinking , hope it's not a crank case bolt!
  17. 576 25" then ported 395 36" for most trees has been my standard set up for about 10 years.. if It's just cut n drop I'll take a 560 instead of a topper for the smaller stuff but that's about the only time I'll take a 60cc saw up. If it is getting over 50" I may consider the 880 but I'd rather double cut on the 395.

  19. Are they not paying tax ? All serial numbers are on your invoices when buying gear... unless it's stolen to begin with.
  20. Spot on , I grew up out side Luton and went to school with many muslims , there summer holidays where spent firing machine guns and rocket launchers in Pakistan and there evenings and weekends at home learning martial arts ,guess what there parents where preparing them for and what they indoctrinated in to there children ? Recently I've spent time at Muslim weddings and spent New Years with a Pakistani Muslim and some of the conversations are worrying to say the least.
  21. Nice RJ's fellas , top work ...Beech in the wet as well, got to be one of the nastiest trees to climb as well.
