    budget ground saw

Got the 365 as a cheap all round ground saw. Not the best at anything - but good enough for everything. Running it on 15 - 24" bars. Think I paid about £400 + extra bar/chain.
  2. ISA here for the mags & book discounts (need something to read during my day job )

  8. Happy new year and all that IMO networking must be a viable way forward for those of us who cannot do everything - there will be very few who can! I agree totaly with Lee that the forum offers the chance to move forward with this (for those that want to) but can also understand Steve/Andy etc for being a bit sceptical. I am just getting a reputation going and would be very nervous about basically subbing part of a contract, but on the other hand I could actually tender for a contract that would be beyond my resources if I could call in others to help. We should look to set up is a system that would put everyone in a win/win situation. People must firstly be honest about what they can/cant do and only offer services that are within their capabilities/knowledge/certification/insurance. At the end of the day you can get an idea of peoples mentality etc from the forum posts and if they are full of then news will travel fast! How to set it up? If people actually put there location on thier profile it would help! Could we have a map which could link to people within a location (like a dealer map)? - would require some work A list of members on a skill/service base? These could updated from user CP and actually double as advertising if available to any members of the public that may wander onto the site Just some thoughts Richard.
  9. This one has even got chainsaw carved bears
  10. Great prizes Steve. Cant get over how slow the total raised is going up The prizes and charity speak for themselves, as should the amount of effort Steve etc have put into organising everything. I know its Xmas and all the bull that goes with it. Im as skint as anyone but ive managed to put a donation in and would love to win one of the prizes, but I also wanted to support the raffle to say thank you to Steve etc for the site. Its a great source of knowledge where you can talk to and learn from each other. So come on you miserable tight bastards, get your hands in your pockets to support the good cause and the site
  11. Need beer to go with it!
  12. Iain, My groundy nearly baught 2 y o Nissan but ended up buying new ranger for less money and loves it. All will come with shite tyres if u want to do any off road and can make a good un shite, get some decent ones on from the start. Richard.
  13. At the end of the day you know your getting there when people come to you, ask if you will to do the job but dont even bother asking how much. How quick/how cheap - bollux. So long as you do not rip the piss quality will outlast them both.
  14. Visa versa depends upon where you’re at
  15. My understanding is that it is 6 monthly for climbing kit after purchase and 12 for lowering. Any new kit I buy I get checked when the rest of my kit is due, so it might be a couple of weeks or nearly 6 months for my climbing stuff depending on when it was purchased. The lad who did his climbing assesment at the same time as me had just baught a load of new kit, the assesor was happy with this (he had his reciepts) and did not require a loler inspection to be carried out (just daily checks etc). Bill the assesment centre for the loler inspection
  16. Just when they got to the other end!
  17. Bollux .......... just eaten a bowl of corn flakes
  18. 1st was SLF - Inflammable Material, last was SLF - Guitar & Drum ...... aint mellowed much. Normally just nick stuff of the kids that they download - RHCP's/Biffy Clyro/etc.
  19. If the right tree is planted in the right place and looked after there should be no difference in risk. Then again if that happened we would have piss all work to do! A trees growth form will be largely dependent upon the environment in which it grows, hence felling trees on the outside of a plantation will put newly exposed trees at risk to wind blow. IMO the theory could be as valid for a tree that becomes exposed due to the removal of a building in an urban environment. There will, however, be more factors to consider such as restrictions in root system growth, crown balance, height/diameter ratio, etc. I would look at any tree in this scenario individually to asses the risk due to a change in environment. Chances are the demolition crew would just smash into it and compact the roots to hell and back anyway

    sleeves

IMO they are of no use at all re protection against a chainsaw (do you know what class they are telhol?) irrespective of the fact that a moving chain should never get anywhere near then. Like I said earlier I do sometimes where them as forearm protection from spiky trees. I suppose they would also help keep your arms warm if they get the chance to go cold. Chainsaw protection they aint.
