  1. Only kidding Andy no central heating on here yet mate I ain't that soft yet, Andy did you ever live in a house with no central heating I think I remember you said you did, I wonder how the young today would think of frost on the inside of the single pain window, with the net curtains stuck to them or having to get undressed when in your bed
  2. Stinking hot tonight, must be high 20's humidity about 44 well that's what the central heating thermostat reads, I think I'll turn it down
  3. To tell the truth I thought the Vine show was pretty good and rather level headed, the chap from the AA did a good job too. Anyway all very sad my condolences to the girls family.
  4. the best mulcher blade i've used is a Stihl, I used it on a big stihl clearing saw [the biggest whatever model that is] it literally destroys woody veg up to 2'' plus
  5. my old man always said this, to run a successful business you must make profit, how much profit you want to make is either up to you or your market, if you make a loss, jack in quick!
  6. Firewood processing with a splitter and saw bench actually cost me money. To make it worthwhile you need access to good coppice and you need a fast processor.
  7. you're looking for a tipper ''truck'' not a tipping ''van''
  8. This http://seax.essexcc.gov.uk/ is a good site for those hailing from Essex, I've found family members that were hung, sent to Barbados, convicted of sheep rustling and one stole a black cow in 1600 worth 3 pounds, oh and one was put in the stocks for refusing to work on the sea defences
  9. Self propelled all the way, those push jobs are worse than useless, especially if working on any gradient [up or down] the useless things slide even with a break on, also unless you have two good men on the job, you'll struggle to push them on rough or soft ground, I know I owned one! I've had several grinders both big and small over the years and speak from experience.
  10. bodge jobs always look bodged to be fair, get some alloy plank,or some fabricated mesh sides do a proper job mate you wont regret it
  11. Nice job , but I can't help but say, rotovaters and tree roots are nearly always a recipe for disaster..
  12. I would be going but they won't let me pull in, as I have a 25 Fendt caravan and van!
  13. you seem to be insinuating the man's a cheat without having any evidence, like I said he was tested 500 times what more do you want? a man is innocent until proven guilty in my books..
  14. He was tested over 500 times since 2000 and he tested negative each and every time, end of discussion! the man's a legend and will remain so IMO http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/cycling/lancearmstrong/9499744/Lance-Armstrong-was-tipped-off-20-minutes-before-he-was-tested-claims-French-anti-doping-official.html
  15. things a lot more dangerous than lions lurk in the Essex countryside.....
  16. You cannot compartmentalise all things in nature, some Beech can live for decades with Meripilus others don't, one rule does not fit all
  17. Be nice to meet you Ted, all the best
  18. looks like a handy tool to me

  20. the two are completely different animals imo, shredders will take bramble and shrub clippings, that you'd struggle to feed into a chipper, and a chipper will way out perform a shredder with brash, its horses for courses
  21. Well this is my story The devil went down to Essex, he was looking for a soul to steal. He was in a bind 'cos he was way behind and he was willin' to make a deal. When he came across this young man sharpening an old Mcculloch self prime saw on a willow stump. And the devil jumped upon a hickory stump and said: "Boy let me tell you what: "I guess you didn't know it, but I'm a feller too. "And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you. "Now you fall a pretty good tree, boy, but give the devil his due: "I bet a Stihl of gold against your soul, 'cos I think I'm better than you." The boy said: "My name's Lee and it might be a sin, "But I'll take your bet, your gonna regret, 'cos I'm the best that's ever been." Lee you oilin up your bar and fell that dead elm clean. 'Cos hells broke loose in Essex and the devil deals the cards. And if you win you get this shiny Stihl made of gold. But if you lose, the devil gets your soul. The devil opened up his case and he said: "I'll start this show." And fire flew from his fingertips as he pulled upon the pull-cord. And he revved the saw across a big old oak and it made an evil hiss. Then a band of demons joined in with a felling lever and the oak was at his feet with a gob oh so neat. When the devil finished admiring his work, Lee said: "Well you're pretty good ol' son. "But sit down in that chair, right there, and let me show you how its done." Stick in a gob, I ain't in this game for fun. The devil's in the house of the risin' sun. Chicken in the bread pan, pickin' out dough. "fell erm good fell erm low" Don't forget to trim those buttress toes The devil bowed his head because he knew that he'd been beat. He laid that golden Stihl on the ground at Lees feet. Lee said: "Devil just come on back if you ever want to try again. "cause I told you once, you son of a gun, I'm the best there's ever been." Stick in a gob, I ain't in this game for fun. The devil's in the house of the risin' sun. Chicken in the bread pan, now they're pickin' out dough. "fell erm god fell erm low" don't forget to trim those buttress toes
