  1. I would'nt round here mate. I used to have 2 hire machines, just not enough business. Maybe buy one of those little garden shredders and hire it out.
  2. Ive used an excavator with a 3/4 grapple rake, if your a good operator you can rake it out roots and all and burn it. Much easier than manually.
  3. I've just ordered a pair from Iain Graham at Arbkit.co.uk
  4. If buying an older model, go for Timberwolf. The pre 'letterbox' greenmechs were utter rubbish, dreadfull infeed and build. Somewhere along the line, Greenmechs underwent a fantastic redesign, going for a powerfull USA style letterbox infeed, and really pulled their socks up with regards to quality. I dont have much time for the 150TW, but the 190 is a very nice machine. Dealer backup would play a large part of my purchase choice.
  5. Have a look at the new SIP pants that Jo Hedger has been modelling. Hoofing good pant...

Ah, knife bolt torque? VFT usually.
  7. The only people who notice stuff like that are other tree surgeons, and who gives a **** what they think?

Really depends on what engine its running. Perkins or Kohler?
  9. Matty, its worth a lot more in your part of the world.
  10. A quick PM to Steve with a request to delete said posts would be an idea. Forwhat its worth, I'm of the same mind as Dave (as usual) regarding competing with these sorts - Dont. If they want to work for firewood, thats fine by me. They're no sort of competition for me in any case.

Kevin - I like what you have to say, but your posts are far to long, and a spell checker is an easily available piece of software, or just click the little ABC button in the quick reply box.. Keep it coming, but try to be more succinct. Sorry, but correcting the chair of the profesional commitee gives me a certain perverse pleasure.
  12. There's no such thing as bad wood. Just wood thats not properly seasoned.
  13. Needs a long time to dry properly, but when it is dry its like anthracite - very hot and long burning.
  14. Would be nice if he could supply a WFtrac:thumbup1:
  15. I usually use mine with longer bars for hardwoods. Torque I like.
  16. Freezing and thawing bursts he sloes, no?
  17. I would never take a ransome crawler into the woods. They were designed for large gardens, not forestry. Good luck if you do, but I would hate to break such a nicely restored machine.
  18. Hmmm. I wonder how the 575 compares to the 372?

Yeah, I know that. I'm cool with them representing their members and AAAC's in particular. And I like the fact that they set a high standard. (Whether that standard is met continually, or is well policed, is another matter.)
  20. If thats Dave's, mines an engraved stone tablet. If you apply for a new card though, it automatically comes back with the updated CS units.
  21. You dont need a shut down. If theres a shutdown needed, then you should'nt be doing it.
