Good to see you again Mark.
  3. Horseboxes are exempt
  4. No. Just did'nt look very closely.
  5. I paid £7k for mine.
  6. Skiing Road trip! sounds cool...
  7. Armilaria? I'm not so good at doing it from pictures.
  8. Thanks mate, looking forward to trying them.

  9. I totally agree - I've had 1 or 2 decent tour holidays (Andorra + Serre Chevalier), but my best experiences have been piling the gear into the car and driving down to the Grand Massif. Travelling in France is always a pleasure, and your not restricted by flight times. We knew some chalet owners, and would book and pay privately
  10. Brake parts are dead easy to get if your mechanic knows were the original parts were sourced from. Not really any more rusty than anything else, we waxoyled ours and resprayed them. As for unreliable, I cant agree with you there, the Perkins Phaser is famous as a reliable engine. Most have done low mileages as they spent a lot of theire time in hangers waiting for the brake upgrade, and then all they did was tootle around runways. As a 5.5 tonne vehicle, you need a pre 97 licence or a C1 to drive one. Same as any other truck...? As for not meeting current construction and use regs, have you got more detail on that? Frankly, You've not owned 1, and I find your post full of the usuall hearsay spouted by Landrover fans. I've owned 2, and can refute all your statements.
  11. Too much axle articulation was why they fell over in trials I think:001_smile:
  12. I think the problem was the MOD wanting a U1300L unimog type vehicle for the same price as a used 101 landrover. As it was, the RB44's all developed brake issues and had to be rebuilt. Mine went shortly after I bought it, and cost me about £400 to have rebuilt.
  13. Yes, they are llama's. Made in the mid 80's, they were the size and weight of a Cabstar. Just not heavy duty enough for the MOD contract. Land Rover Llama - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  14. Usually spread by disgruntled Landrover fans who were upset that the Llama did'nt win the gun tractor contract. Shame really, as the Llama was the best commercial landrover never built
  15. RB44's were a way better gun tractor than the 101. I've had 2, an ex army 5.2 tonner, and a Dodge S75 7.5 tonner. IMO, they are a much better bet than a mog, down to the simplicity. Dana axles, simple transmission, and perkins engine. Mods sound perfect Pete, I ran the 5.2 tonner on U900 rims and tyres with a transit tipper body. Pump tweak sounds good, the perky should be good for at least 150hp.
  16. Saw that. I hate those tractor wheel conversions though, it should be on 26.5 forestry tyres.
  17. Looks like a shredder.
  18. Stevie, I'm going to package up and send you a gift of some paragraphs.
  19. Nice to see peoples kit working well and earning money.
  20. Its a complete misnomer. Softwoods will usually burn hotter than hardwoods, and some longer. Its all down to the inherant calorific value of the timber, lists of which are available.
  21. My thoughts exactly.
  22. Let us bow down and worship at the temple of Ekkka
  23. Incredible.
  24. The Irwin gloves are the absolute DB's. Last a couple of months, very flexable, very snug fit, Neoprene / pigskin construction, double layered in high wear areas.
