  1. :)
  2. Good job my machines have a 24" x 34" wide infeed then....
  3. great pics Steve. Love that little JD
  4. My bad. Pile of crap is rude and not accurate. I would however say that even the trailed engined models are much bigger than they need to be. and 16 x 30 is not great for chipping round wood. I also dont like the way the whole engine tilts on an air ram to engage the drive, nor the need for a huge propshaft, nor the open top on the engine 'shed'. Just call it personal preferance. By comparison, one of my coneheads would fill a 125 m3 truck in 50 minutes... with 40 hp less. http://www.dynamicmfgcorp.com/video/565.wmv http://www.dynamicmfgcorp.com/video/585.wmv
  5. Actually meant where was the pic. As for the chipper, thats MWEN's musmax...? IMHO, a pile of crap. its only 16" capacity but is as big as a 30yard skip. Also produces vast amounts of fines and dust, and needs a hooklift trailer just to move it round.
  6. Where?
  7. Yeah, its a different market. But take a new TW - £15k? a new 10" bandit or morbark -£20k? not a lot more for a HUGE difference in performance.
  8. If you want cheap, buy a benye. Like I said, if its chipping ability & performance your after... http://www.dynamicmfgcorp.com/video/565.wmv
  9. £177 seems very expensive.
  10. As ever, well researched and thought provoking points. As to the bits I highlighted, When a TPO decision goes to appeal, the Consultant who comes out (if its the midlands or north it will be my Father:)) basis his decision on whether they feel the tree is worth preserving in its current position. It would also seem the trend is for the LA officer to refuse any permission, forcing an appeal, and let the government consultant make the decision.
  11. I know of a few goth chiks who've bought Haix boots for clubbing. They reckon there the coolest boots they've ever seen...
  12. My thoughts exactly. did'nt we learn our lesson in 1842...? The Battle of Kabul and the retreat to Gandamak....? The Russians with 250000 brutal troops could not hold afghanistan.
  13. I think I was refering to general attiude. I do a lot of utilities work, some of which can be particularly ugly. I do it for primarily for money. But I would not like to be called a butcher.
  14. Nice work Steve. I reckon I would have prefered the Mewp to climbing that thing.
  15. What credibility? and it was a 4x4 county transit....
  16. Sorry dude;) Here is the bestest helmet of all. Real mens helmet- http://www.tasco-safety.com/hhats/aluminum-metal-hard-hats.html#fbah
  17. around the noggin, not perched on top.
  18. Nah. I would have topped it nicely:top:
  19. I would if someone dared me. Reckon Steve would if I dared him too:D
  20. Reg, my thoughts exactly. The job obviously went exactly as planned. I have some pics somewhere from about 10 years ago(pre digital) of a 140ft Wellingtonia I dismantled in under 2 hours with a 35 tonne crane. Had to put 2 pieces of fly jib on the crane to reach the top. Must see if I can scan in the pics.
  21. That would make for an entertaining climb
  22. Lots of good points in this thread. Good to get Tony's input, straight from the horses mouth. I have to say though, I think its impolite to accuse someone of butchering trees just because they do it for money. I do treework for money, as do ALL of us. we dont do it for free do we?
  23. Auto stress breaking is caused by the tacho being solid mounted. The vibration kills it. A new tacho is about £180, and a set of simple rubber mounts solves the problem.
  24. I get heartly sick of people banging on about TW's. I find they're quite good, but I 've talked to probably hundreds of TW owners who have had major mechanical issues with them. And the schliesings are a good chipper, but to listen to some people you'd think they laid golden eggs If you want true chipping performance, buy an American chipper - Bandit, Morbark, Dynamic Conehead, Woodsman. There is nothing built in europe that compares. Oh, and I agree exactly with J the Tree. The farmi 260 HF are one of the best value chippers out there. I had 3, I even built my own engined machine.
  25. Great pics guys. Here's a 16" 460 conehead I sold to a big customer in Belfast. Buzz and Pete McTree will endorse this model I'm sure....
