    Full Chisel?

    much prefer full chisel.
  12. Welcome Ross. This is a favourite subject... cue lots of Landy vs hilux vs transit vs cabstar vs HGV vs unimog vs tractor posts:D
  13. Most excellent post by Peter. I will reiterate the main point - Young workers coming into this industry should view a C1+E as important as a handfull of NPTC's. I cannot believe how many people I hear whinging about these restrictions, whilst happily forking out for First aid tickets, Chipper tickets, saw tickets, Climbing tickets, rescue tickets, Saw use in a tree, crown reduction, sectional dismantling, big tree felling, even windblow and hung up tree tickets. And thats before we talk about NVQ's, RFS, Tech cert etc. A good HGV driver will save and earn your company thousands...
  14. very nice work Andy.
  15. Been mixing my meds with booze.
  16. Seems like an excellent idea. I think it could record climbing time, and in the interests of health and safety, climbing time could be restricted to 2 hours a day, with enforced rest stops. We could also make climbers use tacho disks, and prosicute them if they go over their alloted hours. This would all help towards a more safe and accident free workplace.
  17. oops sorry, I forgot that they've completely redesigned the new LT.

    110 300 tdi

I thought You'd sold the Freelander? I already told you I'd have yours Dave! (and made you a very good offer....) - I'll call you tomorrow....
  19. It looks marvelous. I definately think you should buy one. I bet if you worked at it, that beast could pull the skin off a rice pudding.
  20. Not like Merc steve, like MAN. very good trucks, simple with torquey perkins engines.

    110 300 tdi

I used to run 3 130's, and had a plethora of LR's for years. Also had a Navara doublecab. I essentially want a 'van' that will go anywhere and can be hosed out. I want the simplicity of the tdi engine (no TD5 thank you), but would lke some snappier power... I also Dont want to spend a fortune. We'll see what turns up. I may sell my chip truck to buy one seeing as it gets next to no use. I have noticed that big BFG's tend to kill your MPG. certainly have on my Patrol.
  22. Still more cheers than Boo's I think.
  23. He'll only save 2p a litre on 200 litres. Current price on a barrel is 65p.

    110 300 tdi

Possibly considering a 110 tdi as a second vehicle as I can forsee the interior and exterior of my Nissan is going to get totally trashed if I continue using it like the past few weeks. I need to be able to carry drums of diesel, grease guns, hydaulic oil and pipes, many tools, chainsaws, petrol etc etc. The Patrol does all this, but with a full leather interior, its not ideal + staff wont look after it like I will. Also, getting in and out continuously whilst covered in mud and sawdust.... A 110 will tick my boxes, especially an ex utilities model with the roller shutter sides. What I need to know is this - the last 300 I had was gutless. Is there much to be had in performance upgrades? and what about economy? what sort of MPG should I see?
  25. I might bid on it. I can get a really good price for cedar like that. The last tree like that I milled, I got nearly £1200 for the timber. I'd want to drop the stem myself though (in 16' chunks), and I'd want access for a 6 wheeler AND I'd want all the limbs as firewood.
