  1. conservation issues (Bats, Newts, Birds, Habitat) would be usefull.
  2. We have loaded our 7.5 tonner with the CSF (real avant) by driving up the trailer and up into the back of the wagon.
  3. Good point Marc, but even the lightest of 7.5 tonners will still only have a payload of 4 tonnes.
  4. Thing is Lee, the lift and reach on those little cranes is pathetic. And 3 tonnes is a rubbish payload... You want something with decent lift, and plenty of capacity. This of course, is just my opinion.
  5. Proper ali welding wire is to soft to be pushed through. You need a second powered reel in your torch, to pull it through - push/pull unit.... Forget your beaters. Your main business is tree work. no offence, but your current box looks well pikey. A proper folded chip bin out of ally will look the proper business. If you want, my cousin will build you a superb folded welded alloy chip box. He used to build Alloy bulker tippers for montracon, so what you want would be peasy squesy...
  6. Could be. I know the client that still sends some stuff there is one of the bigest forestry management companies in the UK. But he did say it was just a small amount compared to the good old days. There is also a company that makes kitchen worktops (chipboard) that will still take plenty of hardwood pulp.
  7. Peter - possibly the funniest comment on Arbtalk so far.... John, Johnski tree service sounds great...
  8. To do long runs in ali welding you need a push/pull mig unit. Dean, why not lower the overall profile of your box, but make it full length? If you took the roof all the way to the back it would make a big difference (less drag and swirl at the tailgate). I built a body like this out of 3mm chequer plate on my 130 crewcab, made it 6" higher than the roof of the LR, had no problems.
  9. St Regis is still taking material of certain customers Oliver - Dont ask me for details, I have no idea, I just know their wagons are still collecting hardwod pulp. Kronospan will also take hardwood pulp / chipwood.
  10. Crane alone would cost you £7 - 8K.
  11. Pm me your details - I'm about 3 miles away, and will have plenty of part time work for you.
  12. Cool tune from the dark Angels, totaly wicked video to go with it... [ame] [/ame]
  13. Nice old beast Craig. Looks extremely capable.
  14. My original ( pre HGV) license was a 12.5 tonne gross licence, but I believe that it was for european style 7.5 tonne and drawbar rigs.
  15. I understand. I have been told that running a heavy chipper on the front will prematurely wear the portal gearboxes on the front axle. Whats the spec on the chipper you have at the moment?
  16. I can argue quite volubly and at length as to why unimogs are not the ultimate arb vehicle.... But they seem to suit some people very well. Huck, the only chipper up from what you have would be a farmi, as the whole hopper swings up and in. You'd have to put a reverser box in it. All my efforts are now going into drum chippers, and that would not suit a front unimog mount...
  17. I have run grab trucks for years. Dont get a 7.5 tonner, the payload is rubbish. 17 tonner would be your best bet, Ex utilities Iveco or Daf. downplate it to a 15 tonner, and the tax will be no dearer than a car.
  18. Single blade spliter bill. The axe might be faster for 10 minutes or so, but the hydraulic splitter is tireless.
  19. looks like it should come with a free handbag.
  20. I have those units in stock.
  21. Click the link in my post.
  22. Its AHS / Jenkinson chipping and taking this lot. My chippers would'nt take a lot of that, they have a Jenz 700 900mm capacity...
  23. Lor...
  24. I just have to stack it up, my client will chip it all for biomass. I can get hardwood pulp rates for it, but its the haulage that kills it.
  25. Big stack of manky Mancunian Poplar. Oh and nissan rules
