Not meaning to derail, but as ive found out recntly, thats not entirely true. You can tow more so long as the trailer is not capable of carrying a load that combined with the towing vehicle, does not exceed 3500kgs. Here we go:001_rolleyes:

Sounds like you must have forgotten Ed. Back in the proclimber forum days i remember you comparing a list of various chippers to the equivelant car. At that time the greenmech was a skoda. You remember it now, it probably was about 5 years ago:sneaky2:

So, it seems we all share the same feeling about the overall appearance! I wonder what the legal implications would be if someone were to remove said fence in the dark of night and spread 2 or 3 cube of chips around the base?

A village near us has unfortunately lost a very large Turkey oak from its churchyard. The tree was believed to be over 250 years old. As a result, the local parish council decided it would be a great idea to keep a momento of the said tree by getting a local carver to sculpture a piece of timber into a fitting scene of the village. After much love, time and effort had been put into this work of art, there are several different parts of the sculpture showing kids playing, people with dogs, horses, old folk chatting etc. The sculpture was a true reflection of the rural area it was to sit in. The site chosen and prepared, this is how it looks now its finished, with a lovely fence around it;

Looking at that muffler Dean it seems a real candidate for sticking a 10mm drill into it a couple of times where the pansey holes are, throwing the deflector away then opening the hi jet a tad:sneaky2: You might end up with a saw that would cut like stock ms240 and wouldnt clog up either! -
After recent events that have occured with me, i can state the above statement is absolutely CORRECT! Anyone else thinking of turning any old truck or vehicle into an "ag vehicle", you have been warned! You guys with Mogs are excused as they are classed as "tractors" because they have hydraulic arms or a PTO shaft. As for andys truck he may get away with it as it has a PTO shaft, and may be passable as a "tractor" To get ag class the vehicle has to be either a "tractor" (mentioned above), a steam engine, a light agricultural vehicle (a quad), an ag engine (a sprayer or combine). There are a couple more such as an ag lift (fork truck) but nothing significant. As Ed says, anyone can tax anything as ag, but get pulled and you better have a good story ready! Anything such as a landy on ag can only travel 1.6km at a time from one place of work to another.

Sorry for the derail, but as Matt says, get materials price, add 20-25%, add labour, but then i think i would add another chunk for profit/contingency.

To what point are you saying credit is risky? Using credit cards to purchase, putting materials on account, or simply turning upto a tree job with kit on finance with staff that need paying then the customer doesnt pay? All risky if you ask me! Fortunately, the job i refer to was for the national grid. Got paid even before the visa bill came in! Sorry Matt, still dont see the difference, this contract was out of my area and couldnt get an account open with said "local" supplier, but they were happy to get payment up front on visa, then used them just like any other supplier with an account?

Why is that Matt? Just curious but ive recently just done a large fence job, got all materials on VISA, then returned all unused and got credited back. You might find in the present climate, opening an account with any supplier is very difficult.

I just finish a two day pruning job yesterday for a 93 year old regular customer of mine. The job was just lots of bits and pieces, mainly a large hedge reduct. On our arrival on Wednesday morning we spotted some "work" had been carried out on a very large conifer on the main approach to the house. When we got to the house the elderly chap answered the door and greeted me with "did you send some blokes to top that conifer for you?" The old gent went on to say that these guys had knocked on the door and said that the "regular tree guy" had sent them round to top this tree. He also said they were very pushy even showed him a business card, but didnt leave it. On looking at the job done, you can imagine the standard of workmanship and the amount of stuff left round the back of hedges, shrubs and still in the tree! We ended up doing the work i had quoted for, and the clear up from my "associates" Just goes to show they can even prey on customers who have regular contractors!
