  1. Found this conversion specialist, just wondered if anyone else used or heard of them? Not much in the way of prices, but have asked for a price list. Look like they do a variety of boxes. 4x4 / Tree Surgeon Tippers - Auto-Lift Uk Ltd Anyone know of any other good manufacturers?
  2. Whats a goat, does it taste like sheep?
  3. Get yourself a beer and worry again on tuesday:beer: Sounds like you made it safe with temp bracing and reduction of weight/sail. No one can have a go at you for that!
  4. If that crack is opening like you say it dont look good mate. If you are hapy you made it safe for now, leave it till the TO is back next week, ring him and let him make the decision. If he says its safe or recommends bracing etc, the nuce(sp) is round his neck:thumbup:
  5. Looks like included union cause of the failure. Perhaps reduction should have been carried out years ago:sneaky2:
  6. If i may sound a bit harsh here, please forgive me, but going on the pics it appears you have removed lower branches from the main leader that has split away. In my opinion, removing these brances was not totally correct. The end loading should have been removed, ie in the higher canopy to reduce the leverage. Just my obs.
  7. Singing from same sheet Big Boss..............
  8. Take plenty of pics, do what you feel is best in interest of safety. Its quite nice firewood you know:drool:
  9. Real nice pics (for a conni job Lol). I recon the landy makes the pics though, i am a little jelous at the moment:cursing:
  10. Ok, go on, give it a kick while im there:bootyshake:
  11. Using the jack method for sending a tree over is very handy in the right situation. This tree and situation in my opinion is not ideal to use such, due to the extent of back weight and unreliability of a chestnut hinge.
  12. Ok, very sorry Stevie, i stand corrected, i was actually refering to this; I must have misunderstood
  13. Ok then, so if it was aimed at you, why are you still not reading the posts? The reference was to "not having vehicular access to the field", not about the diameter of the tree!
  14. Doesnt tieing wife to bed need to be Lolered?
  15. Bet you used to tie empty bean cans to cats tails and let them go up ten-foots too eh? Tied on with old rope of course:thumbup:
  16. As already said, the timber is not the best for holding a hinge and it sounds like you will need to be very careful of the precious plants, but all in all doesnt sound a real bad job. Bit of dragging out, leave the nasty stuff and call it "habitat" If all goes well, could end up with a pat on the back, and perhaps more word of mouth work:thumbup1:
  17. Good to tell what you did as a youth Lofty:001_wub:
  18. Nice one Garry, lets hope similar pics appear say on an auction website:mad1: I will certainly be looking out for them!
  19. Perhaps reading the thread from the start would help for anyone just joining in:sneaky2: After several quieries Husqy king clearly said; Hence, just to refresh and save looking back too far;
  20. Real sorry tuppy, cant believe this! Talk about kicking a man when hes down. Wouldnt it be nice to catch these little gits and deal with them behind closed doors.
  21. Ok then, sounds to me like best way is to strip the stem to the point you are confident of a safe directional fell, remove dismantled waste, leave clear fell in field then adjust price accordingly.
  22. A few options i would look into, 1, If the customer said you would have access, your pricing would be influenced by this, so perhaps the customer can explain the difference now. 2, As you only gave an estimate, based upon tractor access, and you think the job is now more involved (ie dismantling) you can notify the client of this and give them a supplimentary price. 3, If the field is as big as you say, how would the owner gain access to it? Perhaps there is another gateway in another part of the field? This will be of great help for the clear up even if you use a turfor to pull it over. Just my observations.
  23. Plus if its a small earner walk anyway:thumbup1:
  24. Nice one Jonny, did you quote a grand to make it worth your while?
  25. You mean "Granny Logs":tongue_smilie: Always been a hastle to mainstream log suppliers, but if you have found a neesh(sp) market for small logs you could be on a winner.(at a premium of course) Be interested in the outcome.
