  1. Yeh, sorry nige, the V8 is 2995 kgs and the dbl cab is 3050kgs
  2. So, if my V8 weighs say 2000kgs with a GVW of 2995 kgs, can tow the chipper weighing say 800kgs with a driver in it, totalling 2900kgs, can be driven by a post `97 driver without trailer license? Sorry, this is all new to me:confused1:
  3. Try Bagged mate! I would put softwood and hardwood, not just soft and hard.......... some are a little thick! Otherwise looking good
  4. Both landys are 3 tonners Nige. Does it make a difference if its a 3.5 tonner?
  5. Just wondering if anyone happens to know the kerb weight for an Eco Chip 150 MT25, year 1998? Cant seem to find any info. Just need to know if it can be towed on a post 1997 license.
  6. Ok Nige, I'll let the cat out of the bag, we set out to mess with your head:001_tt2:
  7. As for axle diff Nige, definately rear diff first. As said its usually the rear axle carrying most weight, therefore possibility of most traction if locked.
  8. Back at post No. 148, i guess i was correct then!
  9. I'd say it was a steal at £4k, will soon pay for its self. Nice to see some great pics with the story. Keep it up young `un:thumbup1:
  10. As a follower of landys in general, they do have many down sides, BUT, everyone has different requirements, so choice is for the individual. Only a small point, but its a common misconception about the diff lock on a defender. The standard diff lock only locks the diff between the axles that enables constant 4WD, it does not lock the axles themselves. Technically, it is no more efficient than a Hi Lux etc when you engage 4WD.
  11. Cheers for the tips you guys, looks like its a 5AM set off for us and hopefully plenty of coffee when we get there! The two lads going with me are real chuffed:sneaky2:
  12. Main dealer could give you shock also John, worth asking for a quote though. Try and look for a land rover "specialist" when on your travels. These guys are usually landy enthusiasts anyway, will have worked on many many before and will be able to charge less than the main dealer. Will be great if you can find one like we have locally.
  13. Oh, and as for the tunnel damage John, it can happen as i think its a common thing to remove it for a gear box out, but as for not admitting to it, very naughty!
  14. Only reason i ask was, sometimes a general garage can be great at general cars, they can obviously do work on land rovers, but what i have found is the guys who specialise in land rovers know their way around them a little better, therefore might not need to put in the labour time doing such as clutch jobs. Hope that makes sense!
  15. Does sound a bit high John, was it main dealer, local specialist, or a general garage?
  16. They look real tidy mate, must be worth a few quid each.
  17. Oops, posted the topic twice, dont bother with this one. Lol!
  18. Bit of a quick quiery, but i have to go to Cheadle on Weds morning and want to be on site by 9.30AM. A mate of mine said, make sure you avoid the M60 between 7 and 9AM, so anyone got any local info on traffic? Cheers, Pete.

  20. If i could be bold enough to give my opinion(speaking from recent experience), the hastle connected to ag tax, and if you are happier for the quad to be MOT'd, for the £65(or so) per year road tax i think i would forget the ag road tax! That way you can go to the shops, the pub, even go for a sunday ride out on it, it wouldnt matter, and still use it for dragging timber and brash:thumbup1:
  21. I will have another look in the morning when i havnt got my beer goggles on:001_tt2: Will be better to quote from "my friends" spiece of paper:001_rolleyes: I call him my friend because i spent almost three hours "talking" to him. Need i say more?
  22. Wish i could find the bit of paper the VOSA guy printed off for me, Arrrgh!
  23. Depending what the vehicle is named as on the log book will help, ie "tractor" "motorcycle" "land rover" A quad does not fall in the category of "tractor" because it is not solely designed for work on land. It therefore falls under category of limited use, therefore has the 1.6km limitation.
