  1. Tommy, you always seem to get a real nice colour on the carvings, it seems to bring out the true detail, just curious, what type of resevative and stain do you use?
  2. Just a thought Dave, to overcome the over loading issue, is it possible to mount the hiab in a rear corner? I realise it might be in the way from time to time, but if you no longer have it as a tipper, maybe not too bad. Main reason for rear mounting is you can also tow a trailer and load it with the hiab, therefore spreading a greater load between the two. Also better positioning for lifting logs off narrow drives etc.
  3. Sorry, just giggling too much, must have had more than enough wine:lol:
  4. Mmmm! I still have a chuckle now and then:sneaky2:
  5. My Kleins stick around 1/2 an inch in the ground while stood up straight. Walking around a garden with all your kit on, on your tip-toes makes you look a real tart!
  6. Just sharpen the inside and rub off the burr from the outer sides that will do, but keep the angle correct or you could either stick in too tight or slip a lot!
  7. Thats the one Dean, bought one myself but never drove it. Only got it for the gearbox to go into a mini and sat a 1380cc motor on the box, now that thing went:scared1:
  8. Think this thread is great, you can get an idea how old the poster is by the age of the first car! Mine was a MkIII cortina, followed quickly by an Austin 1100, then two vauxhall vivas, then two chevettes. Then i became a real man at 18 and bought the first of 7 Ford Capris:blushing: Cant even guess how many in total ive had now, must be over 30:scared1:
  9. Nice one charlieh, you got the bug now then:001_cool: As a thought, if you do another, perhaps split the can open and remove the baffle completely, make the port on opposite side to the standard one then you wouldnt need the spark screen. What you have done seems like a real good mod for a smaller saw, quick and cheap! Nice one!
  10. Too right Steve, finish of the job is very important, afterall thats where you get your repeat and word of mouth business. I would have bought another robin without doubt, if it werent for the engine problems. I dont do a high amount of hedges, the last cutter had had so little work it had never even needed a sharpen! Everyone has different experiences i guess, but i just expected more work out of them than i got.
  11. Dont know how to explain it, but always seem to get a finer finish with single sided.
  12. At least no one was hurt! Did you know the crew Butch? Just an observation, but does it look to anyone else that the horizontal outrigger on the house side is not fully extended?
  13. Mmmm, had two robins in succession, both blew up in two years. Beyond repair:scared1: Got an Echo pole with foldaway head, good machine but very, very heavy! After the Robin failures, replaced the last one two weeks ago with the HS86R Stihl. Early days yet but this is a cutter, not a trimmer. Has VERY low vibes:001_tt1: Dont know if that helps, but my ten.
  14. So, on a more serious note, other than CTS has anyone found the research in this thread any use to them? I realise Rupe was sorted anyway.
  15. I really wish i had either the skill you have Tommy, or the money to buy one of your pieces. Credit to you.

  17. Heres my first, poor quality, quite old, it wont win, but I was working on a tree at the time and it means a lot to me about what our job is about....the outdoors;
  18. That just makes me cringe at the thought of a spike out:scared1:
  19. When milling try gettin the missus to stand there with the Dyson. That should keep some dust away from the motor:001_tongue:

  22. I have a Lloyds coded welder as a very good friend, who would make me anything i wanted for lowering, but i wont ask him as it wont be CE marked or have a SWL on it:thumbdown:
  23. The foam insert is part of the HD filter Ross. When fitting this, the deflector shown in pic #4 is discarded. Seems i didnt explain myself very well:sad:
