  1. It was all one tree actually, each leader was cut at 15-20' from ground level. The lowest 6' of stem was 6' plus diameter.
  2. That's a good price Nick. I did one in Middlewich yesterday for almost exactly the same, did the haulage myself though.
  3. You do know 'unreasonable behaviour' is grounds for divorce?
  4. Lime is also used, but for some reason they call it basswood on the wrong side of the pond.
  5. Sena have a new industrial system integrated into ear defenders in the pipeline.
  6. Sounds like a clumsy solution to a nonexistent problem to me. Either remove the line at night and use a throw line to reinstall as Joe says, or just pull the line down in the morning to check it. You should inspect the full length of the line every day anyway as part of your normal pre climb checks. Also if this is a permanent or semi permanent installation leaving a wire sling in the tree isn't exactly cambium friendly.
  7. I like eskimos, but i can't eat a whole one nowadays.
  8. 4 cylinder Jon. Renault engine.

    Avant 420?

    Look like Giants to me.
  11. Looking for a home for a couple of loads of clean chip in a week or two.
  12. Not when the rear wheels are off the ground!
  13. You're allowed 305mm of overhang on either side before you need special measures. https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/362006/A_brief_guide_to_overhanging_loads.pdf
  14. That's illegal now, in fact there have been several prosecutions.
  15. Welcome to the club!
  16. There are a lot of new atfs opening all the time, that will level out in time.
  17. It's likely to prevent you getting a licence. So the punishment for not having the licence is making it harder to get the licence....
  18. The funny thing is, if you get stopped and you haven't got an O licence, that counts as a mark against your reputation as an operator...... It's a bit like a 14 year old getting a 3 year driving ban.
  19. Both, to record compliance with working time directive if applicable, and also to show you are getting the appropriate daily, weekly, and fort nightly rest periods.
  20. That's why I've never run a 7.5 tonner. A ten tonner makes a lot of sense, 5 tonne unladen, 5 tonne payload, but if you down plate it to 6.5 tonnes you've just lost most of your payload. I know it's a big investment in time and training, but there's no substitute for a proper lorry, I can't imagine going back to not having one now.
  21. Perhaps you should be more ruthless?
  22. A 7.5 tonne tipper usually weighs around 4.5 tonnes empty. Insulated Tarmac bodies are heavy, but if you strip it to a flat and rebuild in ally you'll gain a bit. An all ally body is the best, but obviously expensive. You would be better off doing your C1+E test imo.
  23. Practically compulsory
