  1. They don't make a 3 litre d max, that's the rodeo.
  2. The alpine is a good machine, does rely on keeping the teeth really sharp, they dont like grinding through stones etc. Well worth cleaning around the stump as much as possible rather than just burying the cutting head in the ground. You can either run the Husky 3120 power head, or the Stihl TS disc cutter power head, most people seem to opt for the Husky.
  3. I have down staged fells, advised the client it was pointless and time wasting and would cost more in the long run. They went for it anyway.
  4. Staged removal is a waste of time IMO, if its coming out then bosh it over and cash the cheque.
  5. Unlikely in my experience of festivals.
  6. Or if the pad was n soft ground, as the boom slewed round the loading pressed it into the ground, once the pressure was released it would easily slide off.
  7. To be fair, they have solved some of the issues, however there are still some flaws I think. For instance, the tailgate will conflict with the bumper on tipping, and the tip angle is restricted by the bumper. You could remove the bumper, but then the tailgate will scrape on the back of the body instead. Also I would have concerns about the loading on the chassis rails, once the buck's subframe has been separated from the chassis it will be taking a load it was never designed to take.
  8. I prefer my tipper thanks.
  9. Another way of looking at it is that specifying the wrong mewp is dangerous, but that doesnt mean that a different mewp wouldnt be an appropriate choice, and still preferable under the WAH risk hierarchy. I do totally agree with your point that just specifying a mewp without considering whether it is the right choice is a lazy and dangerous habit.
  10. I just purchased several items from this company, on arrival I eagerly opened the box only to find them tightly packed in a solid block of tangerine jelly.....
  11. I can see a jelly encased 020 arriving on Spud's bench very soon....
  12. There is no factor of interpretation Kevin, the hierarchy of risk for work at height is first avoidance, ie can the work be done from ground level, then mewp then rope access. Good point raised by hse regarding training though, nearly all ipaf type training happens in a nice Tarmac car park, they really should be getting out on site and doing the job properly. 13. It would be a bloody long commute to steal any of my conifer topping jobs.
  14. Winners Curse The article is about buying at auction, but it equally applies to competitive tendering.
  15. You must get calls from the same customers as me....... I'm going to tell new customers that I'm only interested in quoting if I'm the only they're asking.....
  16. Iv used the 150, ok chipper but gives me backache as the feed chute is too low. Also used the 200 on a turntable with a hatz engine, good simple chipper, chews through the brash ok. From memory weighs just under 2 tonne. ( nothing your Iveco can't cope with!)
  17. I almost never win work on price, in fact I actively avoid quoting for work where its three quotes and the cheapest price gets it, because its a waste of my time. If you feel you have to quote low to get the work, you are quoting for the wrong clients, look for some better ones. My man day rate is nearer what most people on this thread are quoting for a 2 man team, but my setup relies on machines rather than cheap labour so its not really a fair comparison.
  18. I can see the look on the drug squads faces after a 5 am raid on your house, when all they find is a state of the art hydroponic system complete with lighting rig, and 12,000 yew plants.......
  19. 0.3 m2. Planning portal has some good info.
  20. Planning is required, "mobile" are exempt hence the vast numbers of old artic trailers etc. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  21. Could you with consent from neighbour, either put both stoves into the existing flue liner, or remove the existing one and replace with a bigger diameter liner for both stoves? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. I can still go to the bank, but my nearest post office is only 1 mile away. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. Co-op Fsb members account. Free banking, I can make deposits at my local post office, and they are one of the more ethical banks in terms of not selling tobacco to children or arms to dictators.
