  3. By the time you've done all that its usually just as cheap to put new drums on. My iveco (18 tonner) had similar issues with being left parked up, I had new drums fitted to get through the first test.

  9. Hi Chris, The method I have used on the two Transits on this thread would be ideal for you. The only modification is two steel sockets welded onto the inside of your corner posts, and the sides lift off in one section, you remove the two bolts at the front, slacken off the two at the back, and lift it off. 5 minutes tops with 2 pairs of hands. For any truck with sides less than 3.2 metres long, a pair of side panels in aluminium hollow section plank finished height 800mm (on top of existing dropsides) will cost £650 plus vat including fitting. The split folding head board option I can add for £180 plus vat. I would need the truck for a day at my workshop, and I could fit you in week beginning 22nd July. Peter

  11. Looking good Chris, think your slightly confused about the restricted o licence though, you can operate nationwide as long as you only carry your own goods rather than carrying out haulage work.
  12. Yes, I kept the Ifor ladder rack on to add some rigidity, and the tailgate holds the back end together nicely. I would imagine a full load of wet chip would be a struggle to tip, not intended to be brimmed with wet chip though, three quarter load of fresh, and the extra height will prevent lots of overspray, or a full load of dried biomass chip loaded with a machine over the side.

  19. You can reach it from the side steps if you have reasonably long arms, and most climbers I know do!

  21. Finished another Arb Truck today, this one has a split headboard for rear view chipper reversing.
  22. As the sections get bigger and heavier you need to tension the line more, but as you get further down the stem there is less leverage so it shouldnt be a problem. You are always going to reach a point where you run out of headroom though. Actually since he had the speedline in another tree, it would be possible to block the section down onto a untensioned speed line, then hold it on the lowering device while the speedline was tensioned and the cut section lifted, and then release it. Seems like a bit of a faff though, probably easier to dump the logs and move them on the ground.
  23. Do you mean the stem? He shows how to do that with the top at 1.55. Nice vid, love a bit of rigging.
  24. Not sure on the sharpening issue, I do know if you plow through rocks with it you'll be wanting to change teeth before you've finished the first stump. It is a good tool, but dont treat it like a big grinder, it requires a slightly different way of working.
  25. I have test driven the auto d max, on road and round an off road course, but havent towed with it. If I was buying new tomorrow it would probably be my first choice, mainly because of the 3.5 tonne towing capacity.
